Completed in Fall of 2018, the Maria & Alberto de la CRUZ Gallery of Art on the Georgetown University Campus is a new 2,500 SF art gallery that provids a space for sculpture, painting, performance and installation art, among other varieties. The space also offers visual-art exhibits and shows featuring major modern and contemporary artists. The gallery is in the Walsh Building, where the school’s art department is based.
The design for the space features a two-story glass curtain wall vestibule for the main entrance. The interior of the space includes a men’s room, women’s room, a catering kitchen, and reception desk, with an equipment platform above holding state of the art mechanical equipment.
The space is named after Alberto & Maria de la Cruz, art collectors who both attended Georgetown University and have contributed financially to the success of the new art gallery.
DIAG Studios, Marcy Giannunzio, was a part of the design team at her previous firm, Wnuk Spurlock Architecture. DIAG Studios provided Construction Administration services for the art gallery.
