INNOVATIVE PEER TO PEER PROGRAM SHOWS PROMISING RESULTS IN ADOLESCENT SUBSTANCE USE PREVENTION - United States Mentor

We are excited to announce that today, the JMIR mHealth uHealth published the most recent evaluation from our 'Living the Example' (LTE) program, conducted by the The George Washington University- Milken Institute School of Public Health. The study found strong indicators that the LTE program appears to offer a protective effect, with exposure to program messages leading to reduced drug use intentions.

"The LTE program continues to provide us with positive indicators that social media, especially through peer-to-peer messaging, is a promising strategy for prevention, and perhaps more relevant now than ever due to the impact of COVID-19, " says Michaela Pratt, President & CEO of Mentor Foundation USA.

Did you know that the number of teenagers vaping marijuana has risen dramatically within the past two years?

According to an analysis published in the Journal of the American Medical Association, the percentage of high school seniors who reported vaping pot within the past month rose from 7.5 percent to 14 percent.

H.M. Queen Silvia of Sweden established Mentor International in 1994 in collaboration with members of the World Health Organization (WHO). Since then, the Mentor has grown to provide support to youth in over 80 countries reaching more than 6 million children. The organization is now represented in the USA, Sweden, Latvia, Lithuania, Germany, Denmark, and has regional offices in Lebanon serving 22 Arab countries.
