Good morning Loudoun,
I'm receiving quite a few emails asking me to request the Governor not allow Loudoun to move to Phase 3 on Wednesday, July 1st. While I understand your concerns I will NOT do that for the following reasons:

1. As it has always been, the decisions on the phasing are regional. Why? Because NOVA is a very interconnected region, and our hospital's are regional hospital systems.

2. We have capacity in our hospitals, we have adequate PPE and ventilators.

3. NOVAs five State Health Directors are NOT recommending to the County Administrators nor the five Chief Elected Officials that we remain in Phase 2.

4. I am using the same criteria as well as taking the advice of the same Health Directors. Why? Because I don't have the medical expertise to make these decisions, it is incumbent on me to listen now, just as I listened before to those who have expertise. Decisions I make are based in data and facts.

5. We know so much more now than we did in January, February and March.
Wear a mask
Social distance when you can
Wash hands often
Use hand sanitizer
Remain safer at home if you are high risk
Quarantine for two weeks if exposed

6. In Loudoun we are now in constant contact with our elder care and age in place communities. We have adequate amounts of face covering to share with these facilities.

7. Finally if we all do our part we can learn to live with this virus until there is a vaccine.

Again, I understand and very much appreciate your concerns. I'm in constant contact with the County Administrator, Loudoun's State Health Director, the hospitals and my Chief Elected counterparts. We are watching numbers and continue to build our supply of PPE.

Thank you, Chair Randall

On Wednesday, June 24, Loudoun County Public Schools (LCPS) served its one millionth meal since beginning a food distribution program throughout the county on March 13.

“LCPS has demonstrated a community care approach during the COVID-19 pandemic,” said Superintendent Dr. Eric Williams. “Community care includes caring for each and every community member, including those who face food insecurity. Community care is an extension of our ‘whole child’ philosophy, which rests on the belief that we can support the realization of children’s potential when they are nourished, nurtured and supported in the face of the challenges around them.”

Meal service is provided at 28 school walk-up sites and 245 bus stops. This effort requires close coordination between the School Nutrition Services and Transportation divisions, both of which are part of the LCPS Support Services Department.

“Support Services is proud of all its employees as we continue to provide essential services during an unprecedented emergency,” said Assistant Superintendent for Support Services Kevin Lewis. “Not only have our School Nutrition Services workers and bus drivers provided the support that Loudoun’s food-insecure families rely on, our custodial staff has made sure they have a clean, safe environment in which to perform this critical community service.”

Loudoun, nothing but GOOD NEWS today.
First, the Governor just announced that COVID stats and data in all of Virginia supports the Commonwealth moving to Phase 3 on Wednesday July 1st
Second, this morning Loudoun received 12,000 face mask. 10,000 from New Taipei City, Taiwan, and 2,000 from Loudoun resident Eung Gil Choi, who is a community leader and owner of USTMA Taekwondo.
The masks will be used for Loudoun's elder care and county facilities. Please join me in thanking our partners in New Taipei and Grandmaster Choi.
We really are all in this together.

Loudoun, I'm so proud that for the first time the Commonwealth of Virginia and our County are observing Juneteenth. Juneteenth commemorates the end of Slavery in the United States, (June 19th, 1865). For all who are observing, have a peaceful, powerful, Juneteenth day.

Park View High School Principal Kirk Dolson is Loudoun County’s nominee for The Washington Post’s Principal of the Year Award.

The Post nominee also serves as Loudoun County Public Schools (LCPS) Principal of the Year. To watch a video honoring Dolson, click here (https://vimeo.com/393782222).

Dolson has served as Park View’s principal since 2014. Those nominating him for the award write that Dolson’s service to the community goes far beyond that of a principal’s traditional duties.

“He is a nurturing father figure to the young people in his care, regularly visiting the students who reside at the homeless shelter,” School Board Chair Brenda Sheridan writes in her nomination letter. “He purchases winter coats for some of these students as well. He is deeply entrenched in the idea that every student can learn, grow and succeed with appropriate supports in place. He was reduced to tears at a Park View graduation ceremony when a student, lacking parent support, a home environment and basic necessities, came up to him, hugged him and thanked him for believing in him. Mr. Dolson had personally mentored this graduate.”

SterlingFest 1999!
Good Day. I’m posting in hope of being able to offer some assistance with the community. My company D’Artagnan is the purveyor of sustainably raised meat. We work with the best chefs, retailers, grocers and home chefs to provide antibiotic free and hormone free proteins, mushrooms and truffles. I have experienced the challenge and frustrations from the grocery stores and butcher shops being out of stock on much needed items. For some the option to leave the security of home isn’t an option due to health concerns. Furthermore, if you’re able to find these items online, scheduling a delivery is next to impossible. I have coordinated a program for residents to get free delivery direct to their doorstep via our refrigerated trucks. If you are interested, go to the page I have set up and click on the link http://homedelivery.dartagnan.com/sterling Please ensure to enter Sterling in the promo code at check out! I hope to make this program a useful and viable option for the community during this crisis. Stay safe and be well everyone!
