In Sunday’s scripture reading, we saw that Jesus’s disciples argued amongst themselves over who was the greatest. Pastor Jason affirmed that having an experience of Jesus is something that makes for greatness—but it is experiencing Christ not in kingship, not in pomp, not in wealth and glory, but in suffering. Experiencing Jesus as a suffering servant is what changes us. The key to greatness is not information, but transformation. A transformed disciple does not put himself or herself first.

Gardening is great exercise and the sunshine, weeding, watering, and harvesting all serve a good objective: to feed our friends and neighbors in the Loudoun community with the best and freshest vegetables in God’s creation. Free! The produce of the garden goes to local pantries.

Vini and Jane Short installed the Galilee Gift Garden as part of the work of their nonprofit DeShong’s Gift Back. Vini coordinates the volunteers and help is always greatly appreciated. Text Vini 703-314-9296 and let him know when you’d like to get your hands dirty.

About us - Galilee Church

At Galilee, we believe that we are ordinary people called to an extraordinary purpose: to know Christ and to make Him known. We got our start in 1959, when the residents of Broad Run Farms dreamed of creating their own church. Worship began in our original building in 1965.

Currently our church is closed for in-person worship. Instead, we welcome you virtually.

Sunday morning services is livestreamed at 9am. We incorporate a variety of music into our worship and would love for you to join us online. We’d especially like to see you at our Grow Hour of small groups between services.

My "virtual" Mother's Day. Instead of feeling lonely due to social distancing, it turned out to be a wonderful experience. It all started the day before, Saturday, when son, Ken and wife, Liz, along with grandsons, Zach and Devon, presented me with a beautiful bouquet of flowers and musical Mother's Day cards. That evening I received a call from my granddaughter, Kyla, who sent me a photo of their dining room table, all set for a Mother's Day Tea, to which I would be invited the next day in Face Time, for tea sandwiches, salads and tea cookies, with Kyla, my son, Dan, his wife, Cheryl and son Logan. I would have to wear my fancy Downton Abbey hat, and have my table set like Kyla had set theirs, with my antique dishes, tea sandwiches, etc. On Mother's Day, at noon, my table was set as directed, and I went one step further, inviting my large life-size dolls to join me at the table for the Tea on Face Time. My youngest son, Bobby, was not able to join us due to having to work that day, but called to wish me Happy Mother's Day and he loved the whole idea of the Tea. We had an old-fashioned luncheon that lasted for an hour, and all, including the dolls (pictured here) had an unexpected experience. And though this time of the Coronavirus held the promise of putting a damper on this special day, it did not spoil our Mother's Day, thanks to my caring family! Jean Goldsby (the Chapel).
Jordan, Brietta, and Tordis 👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼 We are not worthy of the beautiful gifts God has given you, thank you for sharing them with us this morning!

So thankful to be able to live stream or view podcasts of worship and to be with our choir family last Wednesday. Even in this time of social distancing we were able to be in worship. Planning on joining It's a Beautiful Day in the Neighborhood small group Wednesday. So blessed.
