September 27th is National Gay Men's HIV/AIDS Awareness Day and to honor this day Vivent Health is offering free and confidential HIV, STI, and Hep C testing on Saturday, September 26th 10am-3pm. To scheduled your free and confidential test(s) call a member of Vivent's Prevention Team at 314.346.6848.

In 2017, 2/3 of all new HIV diagnosis in the US were among Gay and Bisexual Men.

From 2009 to 2014, 2,351 transgender people received an HIV diagnosis in the United States 15% (361) were transgender men.
Some Transgender Men have never been tested for HIV.

According to CDC, 1 in 6 Gay and Bisexual Men living with HIV are still unaware of their status, underscoring a need for HIV education, testing, and prevention services among this disproportionally impacted group. This year’s National Gay Men’s HIV/AIDS Awareness Day (NGMHAAD), recognized on September 27, unites us behind the theme “The conversation about HIV is changing.”

MTUG’s pantry has been in high demand and is in need of support. They are running low on the basics - canned foods, instant meals, lunch meats, cooking oil, etc. They are asking for donations that can be dropped off 1-7pm on Tues. and Thurs.

These helps free up time for their staff to focus on community support and minimize exposure by reducing frequent trips to the store. Feel free to reach out to [email protected] for more info. Thank you!

HAPPY INTERNATIONAL TRANSGENDER FLAG DAY!

It was on this date in 1999 that Monica Helms created the pink, white and blue striped transgender flag that has become the universally accepted flag and symbol for the international trans community.

The original trans flag that Helms created is currently housed at the Smithsonian as part of its LGBT History Collection.

Hi everyone, I’m in desperate need to find someone in the stlouis area to foster my 2 loving cats for around 7-9 months. The two are sweet, cuddly, love people. Unfortunately they aren’t fixed yet. Both of them are females. I’ve been trying to get a hold of carol house with no calls back, I would step up an appointment and pay for it. Please share and reach out to me ASAP. I’m trying to get them fostered by Wednesday. Also willing to work out a small payment to cover food and litter costs.

Hey there, Pride Board! After the protest, I made an observation. I'm going to share it here in hopes that you can see the change that is happening in our community, if you don't already. Many (if not a vast majority) of my trans friends see you as "the white gay guy" in my story. I'm sure you already know that. Please take note of how many people attended this event last night - times are changing. Please change with us. So many people have told me they won't be going to Pride. Add to that list the protesters, people who have compromised immune systems and/or don't want to expose themselves to COVID, and you've probably got a low attendance in your future. Again, consider extending an olive branch and helping the part of our community that you've alienated in the past. Make it right. Change along with us - Black and trans people matter. The way I see it, this is your big chance to show them you care as much as you say you do. I just had a knee replacement in March and I still showed up to stand for my siblings. https://m.facebook.com/story.php?story_fbid=10222539321176009&id=1360207154

I hope we don't have Pride at all this year. I've been every year for 23 years, and I can't imagine missing it. Although I will miss marching with the band, being unapologetically myself, and seeing those old friends I see once a year, I'd rather all of my friends live to reunite next year, instead. Also, it appears as though having Pride right now would most likely exclude our immunocompromised siblings, and that's a lot of people to be left out. Let's just help our family and make it so much more fabulous next year? Think about how awesome it would be if we all had to wait another year for Pride! We would all be so excited! You should give it some thought.
Or we could just do that now... So many people aren't working. With unemployment being unreliable, many of our siblings are struggling to pay bills and have food. Also, I've heard from many people that they wouldn't participate in the parade or attend the festival because they can't organize early enough beforehand or they're scared to contract the virus. It may be best and most responsible to follow New York's example and play it safe. Please consider.
