Meet Mark. He was referred to Hearing The Call through the Sarasota County Sheriff Department. They do amazing work to help the homeless find medical service. Mark had been jobless for over 10 years and has had significant hearing loss since he was 19. He was so excited to receive hearing devices through HTC and we are so grateful to be a part of his success! #hearingthecall #hearingsmiles #hearcareaudiologycenter #hearingaids #healthyhearing

In these uncertain times of masks and social distancing, we at Entheos know one thing is certain; we need to communicate and connect with friends, family and our community. People with hearing loss are struggling during this time and it is essential they have access to quality hearing healthcare year-round. They shared with us why “Hearing is Essential.”

It is with a heavy heart that we are closing our 2 offices effective immediately due to the Governor's new mandate. We are closing our doors but our hearts are still with our patients and their hearing healthcare.

We will be answering phone calls and will do our best to care for patients who need urgent Lyric replacement, hearing aid repairs or are having hearing aid problems. We also plan to have telehealth options up and running by mid week. We will also take care of hearing devices using our drop off services.

If you have any questions or concerns, please email us at [email protected] or call 941-316-0406. We are committed to maintaining public health and will post updates as often as possible.

Hear What Frank has to say about properly fit hearing devices.
Frank drives an Uber for a living and has had major issues hearing his passengers when driving. Frank came to a crossroad where he felt he could no longer drive others in his car. After he sought help from Hearing The Call Sarasota at HearCare Audiology Center, he was beyond excited to have a new connection to the world. Wait for the ending! "When you help one person, you benefit all humanity."

This is our newest Hearing the Call Sarasota patient, Mary Boyce.

We met her at our Jefferson Center screening. When she first came in to her fit appointment she was quiet and shy and by the end of the appointment she was fist bumping Dr Thorpe on the way out smiling and excited. Ms. Boyce has been volunteering at an ice cream parlor
to give back to the community.

Marguerite has been concerned during the hurricane season that she would not be able to hear important warnings. She fortunately found us at Hearing the Call Sarasota our local nonprofit project. We were able to provide her with hearing devices and her smile was heartwarming. She told us how thrilled she is to become more active in her life now that she has improved hearing. A true delightful patient.

Check out Dr. Thorpe on a recent trip to Jordan in April to help Syrian refugees with their hearing healthcare.

In April, the Oticon Hearing Foundation provided 100 Oticon hearing instruments for a humanitarian mission conducted by the Entheos Audiology Cooperative, to help provide the gift of hearing to in-need communities in Jordan. Over the next few days we'll be sharing some of those patient stories. For our first story, meet 10-year-old Moutasem:

Moutasem began to lose his hearing after a bomb hit his family home when he was three years old. Luckily, all his family members survived the blast, but his hearing loss is now at a severe level.

When Moutasem arrived at the clinic he had ear pain in his left ear and drainage issues. The hearing device he had previously worn was lost a year ago, so he had not been able to keep up with his education. Moutasem was fit with two Oticon Sensei SP Pro hearing devices that will allow him to better communicate and keep up with his friends at school. Oticon People First

Dr. Mary Thorpe, Eileen Olson and a team of audiologists/volunteers recently returned from a hearing humanitarian mission trip to Zambia, Africa.

Pictured below is Gracious. Gracious is a school teacher and young mother who had been struggling to hear for years. She told us she would always position herself in the front of the room at school meetings and that her toddler son would help fill in the gaps of words she was missing during conversations with family and friends.

The second picture you see Gracious overwhelmed once Dr. Mary Thorpe turned on her hearing aids and started counseling her. Gracious cried and there wasn’t a dry eye in the room.

This is just one story of how we are able to impact lives on these missions. We are extremely grateful to all our supporters and feel very fortunate to be able to provide hearing healthcare worldwide in the most needed places.

Ms. Muir had a Lupus attack back in the 80s which caused her to lose her hearing, shortly after she experienced vision loss. Even with these testing times and losing 2 vital senses, Yvette still stays so positive. Yvette feels that even if we lose a part of ourselves, as in our hearing or eye site, that it is very important to not lose ourselves.

Staying positive is a big part of Yvette's life, she says that she does not need to know someone to be kind to them. You never know what someone is going through and how a compliment or kind word can really affect someone in a positive way.

Yvette enjoys weaving baskets and is currently working on weaving the Eiffel tower which she plans to enter into the 2020 Sarasota County fair. She is big into doing arts and crafts. Her favorite sounds are birds chirping and also listening to the waves.

Maria is a lovely nonprofit patient who is originally from Poland. She survived Hitler and the Communist takeover of Poland after WWII.
She told us she encountered many difficulties but at age 93 she has the most positive outlook on life. She felt she was only missing being able to hear her family. When we fit her with new hearing devices through our non profit, she was overjoyed. She made us homemade perogies to show her gratitude and we are so fortunate to know this beautiful person.

This is the joy that Dr. Olson and our newest nonprofit patient Dee felt after he was fit with new hearing aids. Dee came to us on a limited income and hadn’t been able to hear well in years. It was so important to him to be able to hear his grandchildren and Dr. Olson was able to give Dee the gift of hearing just in time for the holidays!! We feel blessed everyday to reconnect our patients back to life!!!
