Today we added another eighteen covers from NATURE. These fill out gaps near the end of the zoology covers, and include some from the period after June, 1934, in which they ran simple text listings of the contents of each issue as its front cover.

Something even more different: fourteen 1917-27 covers from FILM FUN, a magazine which started out focusing on movie comedy, but is best known for the twenty years Enoch Bolles did a cover illustration of a hot babe for every issue. That's right, every issue (except one) for that period. And that's not all -- he did a lot of other covers, some for competing magazines, while he was still the regular cover artist for FILM FUN.

Bolles was rediscovered by collectors in recent decades, and now magazines with his covers sell for surprisingly high amounts. (It's mainly dealers bidding the price up against each other, we thinks.)

Here are three of the newly uploaded ones, with more at http://www.magazineart.org/piwigo/index.php?/category/227

Doug Bell sent us, nine years, ago a vast number of early covers from popular electricity and tech magazines. This week he returned with a very rare 1912 cover from MODERN ELECTRICS (the first magazine published by Hugo Gernsback, of much honor), and some 1930's covers from SCIENCE AND MECHANICS. Here are the ME cover, and an amazing cover from the other title, with a link to the category online (more than 2000 images):

The American Nature Association published a magazine called NATURE, beginning in 1923 and running at least into the 1950's (maybe it's still being published?). At first they used a standard (if complex) drawing as the cover for all issues, but in1926 they started using drawings by Bruce Horsfall on the cover. Some of these are quite striking. Here are a couple of new ones; more at http://www.magazineart.org/piwigo/index.php?/category/166
