Welcome aboard, Ms. Stolze!

Please welcome to Kinnikinnick School for the 2020-2021 school year new Special Education teacher Kim Stolze!

Ms. Stolze is originally from Alton, IL, near St. Louis, MO. Ms. Stolze received her Bachelor's Degree in Special Education from Greenville College. She recently received her Master's Degree in School Counseling from Liberty University.

Ms. Stolze wanted to become a teacher because when she was younger she saw herself as an average student even though she tried really hard and did her very best. She decided to become a teacher to work with those students that needed extra help or needed content taught in a different way to excel.

Outside of school Ms. Stolze enjoys doing most anything! She considers herself to be pretty crafty and she likes to make things with her mom. Ms. Stolze also likes to build things with her dad. Additionally, Ms. Stolze enjoys creating school materials with her sister, who is also a teacher. She also loves helping her fiancé pack products that he sells on Amazon for his business.

Ms. Stolze’s goals for this year are to be flexible and make the year great! She also plans on getting married this year.

Please welcome to Kinnikinnick School for the 2020-21 school year new 5th grade teacher Cally Peterson! Mrs. Peterson was born and raised in Rockford, IL. Mrs. Peterson attended Rockford University and she earned her Bachelor of Science in Elementary Education in 2018. Mrs. Peterson taught for 2 years at Dillon Elementary School in Rock Falls, IL prior to accepting the position at Kinnikinnick School.

Mrs. Peterson wanted to become a teacher because she wanted to make an impact in the community and to spread her love for learning. Mrs. Peterson feels she has been lucky to have been taught by many great teachers. She hopes to make a positive impact on her students’ lives like those teachers that made an impact on hers!

Outside of school, Mrs. Peterson loves spending time outdoors with her husband and her two dogs. She also enjoys reading good books, listening to podcasts, and trying new recipes!

Mrs. Peterson’s goals for this year are to get to know all of her students, to create lessons that are interesting and relevant for each of them, for her class to learn and grow together, and to have fun!

We are very excited to have you this year! Kinnikinnick is definitely getting back what the district puts in! We love that so many students are coming back to teach where their love for learning started!

Please welcome to Kinnikinnick School for the 2020-21 school year new 4th grade teacher Holly Taylor! Miss Taylor is from Roscoe, IL and she went through the Kinnikinnick School District. She recently received a Bachelor’s degree in Elementary Education with an endorsement in Reading from Illinois State University. This will be Miss Taylor’s first year of teaching.

Miss Taylor wanted to become a teacher because she had excellent teachers growing up in this district that inspired her to go into education. She feels that they made teaching look like so much fun! There isn’t any other job in the world she could imagine herself doing.

Outside of School Miss Taylor enjoys exploring new places with her black lab named Lambeau. She enjoys watching Packers football, crafting/DIY projects, and walking down every aisle at Target.

Miss Taylor’s goals for this year are to help her students find the fun and excitement in learning new things. Miss Taylor hopes that she and her class will grow together and make memories that will last a lifetime!

Please welcome to Kinnikinnick School for the 2020-21 school year new Special Education teacher Kaylyn Erickson!

Miss Erickson is originally from Rockton. She attended college at Northern Illinois University. Miss Erickson worked at Freeport High School prior to accepting the position at Kinnikinnick School.

Miss Erickson decided she wanted to become a teacher when she started teaching preschool gymnastics after high school. She quickly grew a passion for working with children with diverse backgrounds and abilities. Miss Erickson decided to change her educational pathway towards Special Education and she continues to feel it is one of the best decisions she has ever made!

Outside of school, Miss Erickson enjoys spending time with her family and friends. She has 2 dogs that she loves to take hiking. She also enjoys running when she finds the time!

Some of Miss Erickson’s goals for this year include but are not limited to creating positive relationships with her students and families, using the pandemic situation to her best advantage in school, and setting up her students for success in and out of the classroom.

We name it.
We mourn.
We rise in solidarity.
We demand justice.

To our black students, colleagues, parents and families: You matter. Your trauma matters. Your anger matters. Your voice matters. Your protest matters. Your dreams matter.

We mourn with you. We stand by you. We organize with you to dismantle all acts of discrimination and racism in all places and in all forms.

This school year has not provided much closure for anyone. Shout out to teachers like Kimberly Andreas who are dealing with missing students and wishing them well even without the formal face to face interactions that mean so much. Kim, a teacher at Roscoe Middle School, sent little notes to over a hundred students to let them know she cares. Way to be, Kim. She’s one of many who are still loving their students the best that they can. #keateacherproud #keacares #kinnikinnickrocks

A couple of photos. Prepping for home deliveries to our teacher members on Wednesday. I am so thankful to have such a supportive team of leadership for our local organization. With the help of our big-hearted representatives, we were able to divide and conquer to make personal deliveries to all of our members to show them how very special each and every one of them are to our organization and to the students of our district. The smiles shared during the delivery process were so very worth it. We are all in this together. #keateacherpride #kinnikinnickrocks #teacherappreciation

It’s difficult to find words that truly capture the spirit of the teachers and staff in the Kinnikinnick School District. I cannot tell you how proud we are of our teachers and specialists in their efforts to keep children connected to content and each other in this time of uncertainty. We are also very grateful to have a community that has rallied with us to continue providing these connections for our kids. Blessings to all of the traditional teachers and staff but also to all of you who have stepped into the role of at-home facilitators.

Love these ladies! Way to be!

It takes sharp wit, flexibility, loads of compassion and patience, and some tech-minded smarties to change over to online learning at the drop of a hat, and RMS teachers are showing everyone how it's done! Help us show some love to these exceptional teachers of the month!
