A Fact: "Consider the field of court reporting– stenographers must be paying close attention to the proceedings in order to take down what is said and done. If they don’t hear something correctly because it is said quietly, mumbled, or just did not understand what was spoken, they .. must ask for clarification ...

However, a computerized audio recording system does not have the self-awareness to do so– and so part of the transcript may have recorded what was said, but it is not able to be deciphered and that part of the audio is incomplete."

Love the fact that the National Court Reporters Foundation has a partnership with the Library of Congress Veterans History Project. This is one example of an exemplary woman who always went above and beyond.

Linda M. Koon Woods enlisted in the U.S. Air Force in September 1962 when she was 19 years old. She was inducted and finished basic training at Lackland Air Force Base, Texas, before completing her service at Barksdale Air Force Base, Louisiana, as an airman second class. Linda served as a switchboard operator with the 46th Communications Squadron.

As a Native American woman, Linda faced discrimination and prejudice daily during her time in Louisiana. During her interview with Veteran’s History Project in 2004, Linda describes her friendships with other service members as her greatest blessings while in the service.

After completing four years of service, during which she got married, Linda and her husband moved to California where she received a master’s degree in social work in 1994 from San Jose University. Linda was a substance abuse counselor for more than 30 years before she retired in 2008. In addition to serving as a secretary for the American Legion, Linda has continuously given back to her community and has been a cultural consultant for the Inter-Tribal Council of Michigan for over 20 years.

Thank you for your service, Linda!

I have never seen such a rhubarb over the symbolism of a new logo. Well, I did see the National Association of Realtors(r) withdraw its new logo. But this one is stirring up a firestorm.
Talk about passionate court reporter practitioners!

Great to be a part of Fairfax County's proclamation of June as National Home Ownership Month. More than 67% of county residents own their own homes, they cited. This exceeds the national average of about 65 percent.

More from the Fairfax County Government proclamation of June as Homeownership Month

"This proclamation will recognize the work of developers, lenders, real estate professionals, nonprofit counselors, and government agencies working together in promoting and preserving homeownership opportunities for residents in Fairfax County ensuring residents can reach for this fundamental piece of the American dream."
