WHEELS Global Foundation

WHEELS Global Foundation WHEELS is a thought leadership program implementing Technology Enabled solutions in Water, Health, Energy, Education, Lifestyle and Sustainability fields.
(1)

In 2003, the first PAN IIT alumni conference was held in Silicon Valley, CA where Bill Gates, the keynote speaker recognized the alumni of Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) as one of the leaders in innovation and technology globally. The event was covered by CBS in its famed “60 minutes” series by correspondent Lesley Stahl, making PAN IIT a household name in the United States. During the planning phase of “Give back to America” project in 2009, it was realized that a not for profit organization must be formed to distinguish from the mission of PAN IIT Alumni Foundation, giving rise to WHEELS Global Foundation (WGF). In 2013, WGF was founded as an independent 501c3 to provide innovative technology driven solutions to the challenges that affect the global rural population in six areas; Water, Healthcare, Energy, Education, Lifestyle and Sustainability. The organization partners with other national and international NGO’s and non-profit organizations, working in collaboration to provide assistance to a larger rural population globally. Our goal is to increase access, communication, and funding for technologies and/or charitable missions aimed at improving the living conditions of citizens across the globe through the implementation of sustainable programs.

Mission: "Technology Enabled Philanthropy" to give back to India, USA and to global communities by providing technological solutions to issues related with WHEELS six tracks - 'W'ater, 'H'ealth, 'E'nergy, 'E'ducation, 'L'ifestyles, and 'S'ustainability.

Around the world, providing quality and affordable healthcare remains a challenge. As the COVID-19 pandemic began, it quickly became apparent that public policy and current healthcare systems were ill-prepared to deal with the challenges. Ambassador Pradeep Kapur and Dr. Joseph Chalil discuss the lessons learned in the book, Beyond the COVID-19 Pandemic: Envisioning a Better World by Transforming the Future of Healthcare.

The authors offer sustainable and revolutionary solutions to change healthcare delivery in the United States and a model for other countries. With a combination of a public SafetyNet and free-market competition, they offer their "Grand Plan." The advances and adoption of current and new technology will revolutionize the field of healthcare. They offer critical strategies that countries can adopt during natural disasters, wars, or a pandemic.

The Emerging world order, as envisioned by the authors, addresses healthcare needs, education, and sustainable lifestyle choices, reducing the need for more intensive and costly interventions to improve the overall quality of life. Beyond the COVID-19 Pandemic: Envisioning a Better World by Transforming the Future of Healthcare does not stop with a plan for the United States healthcare system, but also organizations, such as the United Nations and the WHO, which are not living up to their initial promise. The authors suggest a roadmap that goes beyond just reform.

With these lessons and their Grand Plan, Ambassador Kapur and Dr. Chalil challenge the world to have the political consensus to create meaningful change for all, both in the United States, the United Nations, and around the globe.

Traditionally not-for-profit organizations have depended primarily on institutional grants or other forms of charitable giving. However, a new generation of philanthropists prefers to "invest for social impact" rather than to "donate for charity". They are active donors whose role surpasses that of check writers. They leverage their resources to achieve social change that is both scalable and sustainable. As a result, their contribution is meant to go beyond providing temporary "band-aid" solutions and work toward the 'eradication' of a disease, hunger, or poverty and to achieve measurable social goals.
Goal for the session:
1. Models for scaling up charitable efforts, especially with COVID-pandemic experiences.
2. Building organizational structures for delivering services: Collaborating with multiple NGOs.
3. Strategies for fundraising for scaling Social Transformation.
4. Strategies for recruiting and training volunteers and service personnel
5. Roles and responsibilities for the Post COVID Board of Non-profit organizations.

Upon registration, you may send your questions in advance to [email protected]. Attendees will also be able to post their questions during the webinar.

WHEELS Global Foundation(WGF), "An Initiative of IIT Alumni, USA" with the mission of Technology Enabled Philanthropy. WHEELS has been selected by NITI Aayog, Govt. of India as a member of committee for Innovation and Technology Transfer.

Past webinars have stressed the importance of collaboration among NGOs to scale operations and increase the impact. This panel will examine and discuss the models for collaboration and scaling social impact initiatives.

Webinar-11 (Full Recording) - Geopolitics in the Post-COVID World - A Dialog with Dr. Shashi Tharoor

LIVE Webinar (Full Recording) - Geopolitics in the Post-COVID World - A Dialog with Hon. Member of Parliament, Dr. Shashi Tharoor
In Conversation with Mr. Anil Bhandari Chairman, Advisory Board, WHEELS Global Foundation as Chair of the session & Mr. Suresh Shenoy , President of WHEELS Global Foundation as Moderator.

📅 Saturday, 12 Sept
⏰ 11 AM ET (8:30 PM IST)

Dr. Tharoor's vast experience at the United Nations including his service as Under Secretary, many years of experience in Global Affairs as a parliamentarian, service as Minister of State for External Affairs in the Government of India, and a commentator and author of many books offers us an opportunity to explore his views for the post-COVID world and the role for the United Nations. His new book The New World Disorder And the Indian Imperative, co-authored with Samir Saran, President of Observer Research Foundation (ORF), one of Asia's most influential think tanks, is a crucial study on the current state of chaos in international politics and identifies India's imminent role, as a non-hegemonic global power, in scripting an equitable ethic for a new international order.

Additionally, Mr. Tharoor is known for his views on a number of topics including economics, history, governance, and geopolitics due to both his well-regarded educational attainment and his broad experience while at the United Nations. He has also been actively involved in demanding reparations to India for British atrocities during the 'Raj', reforming education in India, and was invited to serve on the national Swatch Bharat program by Prime Minister Modi.
