The Virginia Sierra Club is an active leader in a campaign to move our state beyond coal. From extraction to the power plant, coal poses a variety of serious health risks for Virginians and the environment alike. Coal-fired plants are one of the largest sources of air pollution in the U.S., resulting in a variety of life threatening illnesses and making coal the primary culprit in global warming.
