Volunteer Reston Getting Involved in Reston

The Reston Association (RA) truly values the benefits that volunteers bring to the community. Each year, community members donate thousands of hours to the Association in a variety of different areas. Some for longer-term and others for short-terms commitments. Either way, the varied talents and interests of each individual are matched with the right project or endeavor to provide a rewarding and enjoyable experience. The RA volunteer program consists of about 500 active volunteers, working in a variety of capacities and settings.

Mission: To preserve and enhance the Reston community through outstanding leadership, services and stewardship of our resources.

Nominations Open for 2020 Volunteer Reston Service Awards

Every year, hundreds of RA volunteers and businesses generously give their time to make Reston a great place to live, work, play and Get Involved. We had over 1,400 volunteers participating in 80 service projects last year. Our volunteers gave over 6,900 hours in service.

If you know an amazing RA volunteer, group or business who deserves to be recognized for their outstanding community work, please take a few moments to nominate them.

Nominations must be submitted by Feb. 28. There are six categories for nominees.

Need help with the nomination process? Email Ha Brock ([email protected]).

Nominations are being accepted for the annual Reston Association Volunteer Service Awards. Please email nominations to Ha Brock, Volunteer Reston Manager, at [email protected] no later than 5 p.m. on Friday, Feb. 28, 2020.

The nomination form can be found here: https://bit.ly/2WQGzNh

We love having new corporate partners! On Friday, Dec. 6th KForce celebrated it's fourth annual Day of Giving in Reston. Over 25 volunteers worked with our environmental resource staff at Wainwright Recreation Area to help remove invasive plants and debris. Volunteers removed a dump truck load of brush material.

Removing invasive species is one piece of supporting a thriving and healthy ecosystem. Thank you @kforce for your support and helping us restore Wainwright natural areas.

June 7, 2019 was Reston Association's 10th year hosting Impact Day and Deloitte's 20th Impact Day— which is a longstanding tradition and a celebration of Deloitte’s year-round commitment to collectively make an impact in the community.

This year’s Impact Day continued a tradition of Deloitte’s involvement with Reston Association with 80 volunteers working with RA environmental staff to make exterior improvements at the Lake House. Volunteers worked with staff to spruce up the Lake House on a wide range of outdoor projects, such as a pollinator garden; painting; building a biolog along the shoreline; building a retaining wall in the parking lot and fence around the HVAC units. Stop by the Lake House to see the exterior makeover!

We’re so appreciative to have an army of Deloitte volunteers in our community year after year. Thank you for making an #ImpactThatMatters in Reston!
