Competitive Events Update
We wanted to take a moment to remind everyone that the competitive events winners will be announced in a special edition of Tomorrow’s Business Leader digital magazine. We know you are excited to see the results and they are coming soon!
As with much of the NLE event, there were many ways FBLA-PBL has had to change the way of doing this. In fact, that’s part of the reason that the event was intentionally referred to as the “National Leadership Experience” and not an online “National Leadership Conference”—to replicate our NLC would be impossible given how different an online event truly is. One area that has been particularly distinct is identifying our competitive events winners in the instance of a tie. At an in-person competition, judges are responsible for breaking ties in the moment. Online, given the judges virtual presence, this process has taken much longer—something we did not anticipate. It is because of this need to ensure winners are appropriately identified, that the TBL will be released closer to July 15. We will only be announcing winners when all event categories are complete and accurate. We know that our competitors worked hard to ensure they presented their best work and it is imperative that we don’t rush the process. Thank you for your understanding and stay tuned!

FBLA-PBL proudly recognized the new state presidents for the 2020-21 membership year in our closing celebration during the National Leadership Experience. While we endeavored to ensure everything was accurate, unfortunately one state officer was incorrect. The state president of the VA FBLA is Sarah Nugent. Congratulations, Sarah, we look forward to seeing you lead in the year to come! We apologize for the oversight and regret the error. A corrected video has now replaced the original closing celebration on the NLE website.
Did you know that 9,684 competitors participated in the FBLA-PBL National Awards Programs representing FBLA-ML, FBLA, and PBL Divisions?
This commitment shows the strength, drive, and resiliency of our members! That said, we know what you are thinking: when will the competitive events winners be announced? As announced in April, competitive events winners will be announced in a special edition of Tomorrow’s Business Leader, FBLA-PBL’s signature publication. This isn’t your typical TBL though – it is digitally enhanced for online reading and will be full of great post-NLE content, videos to NLE highlights, introduction of your National Officers, and (yes) a full list of national recognitions and competitive events winners.
This year has been unlike any other and we promise, TBL will be worth the wait. Stay tuned to our posts and stories as we share behind-the-scenes looks at the post-NLE process.
In the meantime, you tell us: what was your favorite part of the NLE?
FBLA-PBL has officially announced the 2020-21 theme: “ASPIRE”
Earlier this spring, we asked chapters to share their suggestions for our guiding theme. Our theme was suggested by an FBLA chapter from Weber High School, under the adviser leadership of Alan Rawlins, stating that everything an FBLA-PBL member accomplishes and achieves allows one to go higher… and therefore, we ASPIRE.
As we look ahead to the next school year-however uncertain it may appear right now-what we know is that FBLA-PBL has great things in store. We will be officially launching our Roadmap series to guide members on their journey; we have strategic partnerships with companies like Facebook, Tallo, KPMG, and Intuit; and we plan to offer robust content in all areas of business education.
We Aspire to explore, experience, and engage with you. We aspire for a better future. We aspire to grow in business. We aspire to lead.
In using this theme, we encourage chapters to think about the values and actions that define their community and use them in the discussion and marketing of FBLA-PBL as elements to which to Aspire. Advisers – graphics and marketing materials will be available to you via our new Leadership Community launching in July, stay tuned!
How will you weave the Aspire theme into your program year?
Congratulations to the newly appointed FBLA officers. Visit www.fbla-nlc.org/fbla-officers for the new officers and to view the final election results.
All we do is win win win. Happy Winning Wednesday, and show off your FBLA hardware and celebrate your accomplishments! #NLE20 #NLEOnline #WeAreFBLAPBL
