WHAT A DAY!
Insurance Commissioner Mike Causey, who is also State Fire Marshal, was proud to honor 10-year-old Brayden Connor and his neighbor, Antonio Bickems with Heroism Awards at the Claremont Fire Department today! Young Brayden woke up on Dec. 4 to find that the kitchen in his home was on fire. He remained calm as his mother became disoriented by the fire. Brayden and his mother left the home and went to a neighboring duplex and banged on the door where Bickems lived. Bickems then rescued two children from the fire while the mother rescued another child! Our Safe Kids North Carolina team also presented Brayden with a TV! Great job Brayden and Antonio!

Shout-out to our friends at Safe Kids Iredell County for the awesome job collecting hundreds of warm clothes for children in need through their Holiday Cold Weather Drive! This is what the giving season is all about! Awesome job!

Safe Kids Iredell would like to extend a HUGE “Thank You” to our Iredell Community for their generous donations. Through our Holiday Cold Weather Drive, we were able to collect over 300 winter hats, over 900 pairs of socks, over 300 pairs of gloves, as well as blankets, jackets, scarves, and ear warmers! We even had items donated that were hand-knitted. We will deliver these items this week to the I-CARE, Inc. Head Start Program and to Iredell-Statesville Schools to ensure that children stay safe and warm over the holiday break! Thank you again for your support of Safe Kids Iredell and for helping the children in our community! Safe Kids North Carolina

Local Programs & Checking Stations : BuckleUpNC.org – Securing North Carolina for Life

As your kiddos are getting bigger, Remember that even though they may have outgrown their forward-facing seat, they are not ready for just a seat belt or to sit in front seat quite yet. They are safest in a booster seat that enables the adult seat belt to fit properly.

Are you unsure about if your child is in properly? Visit https://www.buckleupnc.org/locations/ for Permanent Checking Stations close to you!

Permanent Checking Stations (PCS) are locations where parents/caregivers can receive information about child passenger safety from nationally certified Child Passenger Safety Technicians and have their car seats and seat belts checked to be sure they are installed and used correctly.
