Turkey Fryer Fire Demo
We hope you all have a safe and happy #Thanksgiving! This week, Insurance Commissioner and State Fire Marshal Mike Causey along with NC OSFM staff teamed up with the @apexfiredept to demonstrate the dangers of using a turkey fryer, which causes nearly 1,000 fires around Thanksgiving every year.

In recognition of #NationalPetFireSafety Month, Insurance Commissioner and State Fire Marshal Mike Causey reminds communities how to protect their homes and furry friends from the dangers of fire. Commissioner Causey is proud to announce that Kidde Fire Safety is donating 50 pet oxygen face masks (an estimated $5,000 donation) to the North Carolina Department of Insurance and Office of State Fire Marshal to distribute to local fire departments across North Carolina.

Did you know? In 2018, there were 3,308 motor vehicle crashes in North Carolina during the Christmas season alone (December 21- December 26).
This holiday season, whether youre traveling near or far, remember to stay alert for any distracted drivers on the road, have designated drivers when out drinking, don't text and drive, and always buckle up.

NCDOI/OSFM Donates to Hurricane Dorian Victims
Commissioner Causey asked for donations to help those in need and the NCDOI/OSFM team delivered! This weekend, we're donating 60 child passenger safety seats, 40 bike helmets, and countless toys and bikes to #HurricaneDorian victims in Ocracoke Island! Merry Christmas everyone!
