The stories we've shared over the last several weeks are just the beginning of what’s possible together. It takes all of us - a young scientist like Dr. Zoe McElligott, a survivor and mother like Ashley, dedicated supporters like Bubba and Doug... and YOU. Together, we’ll turn a season of despair into a Season of Hope for all those impacted by mental illness.

As we continue through this #SeasonOfHope we are so grateful for other local organizations in our community that are committed to supporting our mission. We were blown away recently to receive a check from Fred Anderson Toyota (and Fred Anderson Nissan of Raleigh and Fred Anderson Kia of Raleigh) from their #DollarforHope campaign - which was HUGELY successful! We love our sponsors and so appreciate their dedication to the #WalkforHope and to funding critical mental illness research.

Yesterday was BIG!

We officially wrapped up our corporate philanthropy event, "A Dollar for Hope" and got to deliver exciting news, as you can see in our video 😁

All 3 of our Raleigh dealerships actively raised money for The Foundation of Hope, which raises money to fund mental health research.

It was so rewarding being able to present this great organization with a check for over $13,000!

Thanks to Fred Anderson Nissan of Raleigh, Fred Anderson KIA of Raleigh, and Fred Anderson Toyota for an amazing group effort!

Healing Transitions | Recovery For All

We know the important work of addiction recovery can't be done in isolation. In the words of Healing Transitions, a local nonprofit doing incredible things in the recovery space, it takes a "village."

Healing Transitions serves people struggling with addiction (especially those who are homeless, uninsured and underserved) at their men’s and women’s campuses, and we're honored to shine a spotlight on their work today. Because, like them, we also believe that recovery can't wait.

Healing Transitions takes the COVID-19 outbreak seriously and has been working closely with local and national health officials for the past several weeks. For information on how Healing Transitions is responding to the coronavirus outbreak, please visit our COVID-19 response webpage.

For 10 years, Ashley fought to overcome her addiction and failed. Until one day, she entered the UNC Horizons substance abuse program for women and found the help she needed.

Today's Changemaker is April, a singer, songwriter, clinical social worker, and passionate FOH supporter. In 2010, she tragically lost her younger brother to an accidental opioid overdose.

"Jeremy was our son and younger brother. He was incredibly handsome, funny, smart and compassionate. He also suffered from severe bipolar disorder and addiction. Starting at a very young age, he experienced debilitating anxiety and insomnia, and turned to self-medicating with over-the-counter and prescription medications in his teenage years. Jeremy died at the age of 34 of an unintentional overdose in his bedroom.

Opioid overdoses are a national epidemic and those suffering from a mental illness are the most vulnerable. It’s time our we hold our pharmaceutical industry, physicians, government and ourselves accountable.

The first Walk without our beloved Jeremy was a mere two months after his death. With our hearts and lives shattered and our eyes filled with tears, we took one step in front of the other toward the hope that we would one day smile again. Our souls will be forever grateful for the Walk for Hope. The support we experienced, and continue to experience year after year, from thousands of other strangers walking with and beside us is indescribable.

A special thanks to the Walk for Hope for their tireless efforts to love and support those of us living in the mental health trenches. And a special thanks to Jeremy for the amazing lessons his life and transition from this world taught our family: Love fiercely. Dream BIG. Never take one minute for granted. And, GO FOR IT!

Your life mattered, Jeremy, and we’ll carry you in our hearts forever."

We're in the midst of an epidemic. And we're not talking about COVID-19.

The CDC predicts we'll surpass last year's record of 71,000 overdose deaths. The opioid epidemic, on top of social isolation, stress and health issues, has led to a dangerous increase in substance abuse and addiction. Because addiction is closely tied to other mental health issues like depression, anxiety and suicide, times like these remind us why mental ilnessl research matters.

THANK YOU to everyone who gave yesterday on Giving Hope Tuesday yesterday. You are helping us fight this epidemic!

We're one week away from #givingtuesday2020, but this year, we're calling it Giving Hope Tuesday. Because for us, that's what it's all about – providing hope through research to people struggling with mental illnesses, including addiction and substance abuse.

And while we're asking you to give hope on #GivingTuesday we're also giving something to you in return! For everyone who donates on Giving Hope Tuesday (December 1), we'll send you a special handmade ornament to celebrate a Season of Hope!

Do you have about 3 leftover t-shirts to share for a Millbrook High silent auction basket?? We PURCHASED a $200 Angus Barn Gift card for a silent auction where we are raising money for a Mental Wellness program for all of our students We are looking for items to "beef up" our basket. My lone t shirt from Race for Steak does not quite fit into a our "Family Fun Night Out" basket. It looks sorta lonely. We would love any Angus Barn donation but had thought there may be leftover race memorabilia. Folks at the Angus Barn did not know whom I should contact for this. Thank you.
Thank you for partnering with CEI! We appreciate your business!
