শিশুরা "ক-তে কাক" শিখতে গিয়ে যদি দেখে গাছের ডালে একটা কাক বসে আছে, যেই কাক দেখতে আবার ঠিক "ক"-এর মতই, তাহলে ব্যাপারটা মজার না? :D

Project Bornomala

দীর্ঘ প্রতীক্ষার পর ছবিতে বাংলা বর্ণমালা সবার জন্য উন্মুক্ত।

এই মুহূর্তে কেবল নর্থ আমেরিকা থেকেই অনলাইন অর্ডার করা যাবে। অন্যান্য অঞ্চলে কিভাবে ডিস্ট্রিবিউট করা যায় সেইটা নিয়ে কাজ চলছে।

প্রিন্টিং আর শিপিং এর জন্য আমরা একটা থার্ট পার্টির সাহায্য নিয়েছি। শিপিং ট্র্যাক করার অপশন অবশ্য এখনো নাই।

Batayon Foundation is working to raise funds for a wonderful school in Bangladesh. The school is named "Swapnanagar Bidyaniketan / স্বপ্ননগর বিদ্যানিকেতন" (roughly translates to: The School of Dreams).

This school is run by a group of volunteers who are trying to bring the light of education to a detached, rural locality. The community is very impoverished and lives a socially outcast life.

They are in dire need to build a new school house -- a simple structure with a couple of rooms and a roof over their head. We urge you to come forward with your donations.

We are targeting 20 donors (or groups of donors) who will contribute $100 each. Batayon Foundation is a registered charity (EIN: 46-3433233). Your donations are tax-deductible, and also eligible for corporate donation matching.

February 21st marks the International Mother Language Day. On this in 1952, students and protesters in Dhaka, Bangladesh (then East Pakistan) martyred their lives to establish Bangla as one of the state languages of the then Pakistan. Their supreme sacrifice was recognized by the UN by declaring February 21 as the International Mother Language Day.

Batayon Foundation brings you a memorial souvenir to mark this occasion (originally prepared by the Bangladeshi Students' Association at University of South Carolina). We hope that Bangladeshis all over the globe will find this souvenir helpful.

These images and the entire souvenir is free for non-commercial use. Feel free to print and distribute. If you would like to receive .ai or .eps or .pdf files for customization, please email batayon-at-gmail-dot-com.

A couple of weeks back, a photo camp was organized at Spreeha School near Rayerbazar, Dhaka. Volunteers of the Radiant Childhood project visited the school and took pictures of the children there. It's time to hand them printed, laminated copies of their photos, so that they have a keepsake of their childhood. If possible, please make a donation to make this happen. Every dollar will get 2-3 photos printed and laminated.

কয়েক সপ্তাহ আগে রায়েরবাজারে 'স্পৃহা'র স্কুলে রঙিন শৈশব প্রজেক্টের পক্ষ থেকে একটি ফটোক্যাম্প আয়োজন করা হয়। স্কুলের সব ছাত্রছাত্রীদের ছবি তোলা হয়েছে, এবার তার প্রিন্টেড কপি ওদের হাতে তুলে দেওয়ার পালা। আপনাদের সবার কাছে অনুরোধ রইলো কিছু আর্থিক সাহায্য নিয়ে এগিয়ে আসার। প্রতি ডলারে অন্তত ২-৩ জন শিশুকে ল্যামিনেটেড ছবি দেওয়া যাবে।

রঙিন শৈশব

Please take a few minutes to view on of the project pages of Batayon Foundation. This project -- named Radiant Childhood -- aims to provide needy children with a keepsake of their childhood.

In the age of advanced photography, millions of impoverished children in Bangladesh have not had the opportunity to be photographed. Many live in the streets or slums, few have a photograph of their parents, friends, or loved ones.

Batayon Foundation is now ready for project-specific donations.

We have set up a marketplace with SquareUp. It is very similar to any e-commerce site. Projects are included as individual 'items'. You can choose any multiple $10 for a donation amount.

There is a credit card processing fee of 2.8%, the rest gets deposited to our checking account. We also have PayPal, where anyone can set up recurring donations.

Please check out the portal and our donation page. I would also encourage you to make a small donation. We have a number of wonderful projects lined up, the money would come in handy. And there's always the pleasure of giving.

রঙিন শৈশব

Even though we live in the age of mobile and digital photography, a large number of children living in extremely poverty have never been photographed. The only keepsake from their childhood is their memory. This project aims to offer every child a chance to photograph their lives, parents, and friends; so that no child ever loses touch with their childhood.

মাত্র এক কাপ চায়ের সমান খরচে রাঙিয়ে দিতে চান একটি শিশুর শৈশব?

আমাদের জীবনের সবচেয়ে সুন্দর, সবচেয়ে রঙিন সময় হলো শৈশব। অথচ আমাদের দেশের বিপুল সংখ্যক শিশু চরম দারিদ্র্যে তাদের শৈশব পার করছে। দেশে মোবাইল, ডিএসএলআর এসবের ছড়াছড়ি থাকলেও অধিকাংশ শিশু ক্যামেরা দেখেনি বা কদাচিৎ দেখেছে। এই বিশাল সংখ্যক শিশুর শৈশবের দিনগুলার কোনো স্মৃতিই তাদের কাছে থাকবে না। থাকবে না তাদের বাবা মায়ের ছবি, মৃত বাবা-মা কে স্মরণ করতে তাদের কেবল মনছবি ছাড়া আর কিছুই হয়তো নাই।

অথবা ভাবুন সেই বাবা-মায়ের কথা, নিজের সন্তানের শৈশবের অসাধারণ দিনগুলা যাদের কাছে কেবলই স্মৃতি হয়ে আছে, নাই কোনো ছবি।

এক মুহূর্তের জন্য ফেইসবুক ফিড থেকে চোখটা সরিয়ে নিন, ভাবুন। আমরা সকলে মিলে খুব খুব সহজেই এই শিশুদের রঙিন শৈশব ধরে রাখতে সাহায্য করতে পারি। কিছু মাঝারি মানের ক্যামেরা, পোর্টেবল প্রিন্টার, এবং পোর্টেবল পাওয়ার সাপ্লাই ব্যবহার করে আমরা হাজার হাজার শিশুর শৈশবের ছবি তুলে দিতে পারি।

এই প্রক্রিয়ায় আপনারা বিভিন্ন ভাবে সহযোগিতা করতে পারেন। প্রথমত, বিভিন্ন সুবিধাবঞ্চিত এলাকায় গিয়ে একটি দিন কাটাতে পারেন। শিশুদের ছবি প্রিন্ট করে তাদের হাতে দিতে পারেন, তারা অনুমতি দিলে সেই ছবি ডিজিটালি প্রকাশ করতে পারেন। দ্বিতীয়ত, বিভিন্ন প্রকার আর্থিক ও লজিস্টিক ব্যাপারে সাহায্য করতে পারেন।

একটা ছবি ছাপতে খরচ সব মিলে বড়জোর ১৫ টাকা পড়বে, কিন্তু একটি দুর্ভাগা শিশুর জন্য সেটা হবে অমূল্য এক সম্পদ। আসুন না, এই কাজে হাত দিন, ধরে রাখুন আমাদের শিশুদের রঙিন শৈশব।

সবাই মিলে কাজ করলে আমরা তো সাধন করতে পারি অসাধ্যকেও।

If you are a teacher, tell the children of your class. Tell the boy or girl who works at your home or office or canteen or shop. Tell every child you meet in your neighborhood.

Tell them not to pick anything in the streets. Tell them to stay away from unknown objects that look like toys or balls.

Tell them, their lives are the only valuable things we are left with. Tell them, they are our last hope to end this darkness.
