WAAAUB NC Chapter will be participating in the #AUB4Beirut Run/walk on September 18 and 19. Please register and consider supporting the North Carolina Chapter walk and AUB by making a donation.
AUB has been the epicenter for Beirut’s disaster response. This specific fund is providing support for where the need is most including the medical center, needs in the community, repairing buildings on campus that were impacted by the explosion, and for student scholarships.
You can join us in-person on Saturday September 19 (more info to follow), do your own walk/run or even participate "virtually" and post your pictures with #AUB4Beirut. Don’t forget to mention WAAAUB North Carolina Chapter in your post!
2 more days left! Let's make it to the $30K. Contribute and share if you can. No amount is too small.

Amazing news!! We have reached our first fundraising milestone of $5,000! And to celebrate this small but mighty victory for Beirut, our TLAC Board voted just last night to match the first $5,000, bringing us to over $10,000 raised in less than two days!
We are incredibly moved by this show of support from people both from here in the Triangle and from all over the country who have donated to help Our Beirut. Thank you so much - let’s keep going to reach $20,000!

Thanks to everyone who has contributed to our efforts to help our shattered Beirut - so far we have raised over $4,000 in just one day!
We are so grateful for your generous donations and are excited to announce which Non-Governmental Organizations your contributions will support:
1 - The Disaster Management Unit of the Lebanese Red Cross an NGO whose heroic efforts are providing immediate medical assistance and relief to victims of the explosion, greatly mitigating the suffering of the most vulnerable.
2 - Beit el Baraka a non-profit organization that is leading the efforts to repair and rebuild the homes that were severely damaged in the blasts, while also providing those in need with emergency shelter relief.
Thank you all again for your continued support for our Lebanese brothers and sisters both in the Triangle and abroad! Let’s keep up our efforts to rebuild Our Beirut!!

Our hearts have shattered with the city of Beirut, as the August 4th explosion has left over one hundred dead, thousands injured, and hundreds of thousands homeless.
We urge you, citizens and friends of the Triangle, to join our efforts to raise money to provide urgent disaster relief to Lebanon by contributing to our GoFundMe. This money will go directly to the Lebanese Red Cross and reputable Non-Governmental Organizations that are working tirelessly to help the victims of this reckless explosion.

Regrettably we have decided to cancel our Lebanese Festival for the time being. This decision was not taken lightly but we believe it to be the responsible thing to do for the sake and well being of the community. We know many of you are disappointed, as we are, especially after all the hard work by all our participants and volunteers. We are very grateful for all your support. Stay tuned for more events as the situation improves

As you may know, we have been in the process of restructuring the school in terms of curriculum and student engagement. Our goal is to engage students through fun and creative activities that will make their learning experience more enjoyable inside and outside the classroom.
The Arabic classes are designed to focus more on the colloquial Arabic and will train kids to carry conversations in the Lebanese dialect. Through integrating audiovisuals, each session will be composed of a lesson, conversational game/teasers, and one chosen kids’ Lebanese song. Every ~ 3-4 sessions, students will have an outing/in-house activity (that will also be arabic-related). In addition, students will be given light homeworks and will be casually assessed by their teachers (no preparation needed).
To be in line with the academic year, we’ll be following Wake County's calendar (see below). If for some reason your child cannot attend one or more sessions, please do inform us and we’ll send you the material that will be covered during the missed session/s.
Here’s a description of the two classes:
Arabic 1 (ages 4-7): Aimed to teach children the core elements of Arabic language and Lebanese culture. Students will learn to recognize and produce letters and sounds accurately.
Topics involve alphabets, numbers, colors, conversational vocabulary, days of the week, months of the year, seasons. No prior knowledge needed. Instructor: Ms. Hannah Chaya
Arabic 2 (ages 8-11): Develops reading comprehension skills, themed passages, with focus on writing skills in addition to spoken Lebanese and cultural learning. Students are expected to understand basic Arabic or have completed Mrs. Fida’s class. Instructor: Mrs. Fida Nasrallah
