Community Music School Raleigh
A big thank you to the Kiwanis Club of Raleigh Foundation for their generous grant to Community Music School! We are grateful for their commitment to the children of Wake County and their support of our music program.
Some thought it couldn’t be done, but on the last day of Hanukkah, Rabbi Eric Solomon and Pastor Christopher Edmonton wove together the stories of Hanukkah and Christmas as celebrations that bring light and hope to the world.
The Kiwanis Club of Raleigh is grateful to them for bringing scripture and history together in an enlightening way, and to our members for choosing to spread light and hope through our community.

RaeLana Poteat of the NC Museum of history shared that one of the first organized efforts to earn the vote for women occurred on October 10, 1913 in Goldsboro, NC.
Anti-Suffragists didn’t want the exploration of who can vote in the South, and after the Nineteenth Amendment to the Constitution was ratified on August 26th, 1920, it took 51 years for the North Carolina General Assembly to ratify the amendment. Kiwanis Club of Raleigh Immediate Past-President Phil Kirk participated by voting for the amendment in 1971 during his tenure as state senator.
Thanks Phil!!!
