Fighters for Freedom Hill is a organization of young people from Princeville, North Carolina working to revitalize the town. Princeville, founded as Freedom Hill in 1865, is the oldest chartered town founded by Black people in the nation. It sits on the Tar River across Tarboro and in the floodplain. Due to its position, it is often affected by flooding, most infamously after Hurricane Floyd. However, the town has rebuilt after each crisis and is still committed to continuing to tell their story and history.

While spared (fortunately) by Hurricane Florence, there is a great need for another generation to emerge and offer new perspectives on resilience.

Three leaders from Fighters for Freedom Hill will be speaking at NCSU College of Design Burns Auditorium on Tuesday October 9, 2018 at 6pm.

Some good advise for students...

As we take our children back to school or send them off to college, we bring back this story from earlier this year.

Do you find this true in your case? Would you encourage your children to try a different way of note-taking?
