The winter weather is finally setting in and we want to provide our community members with the essentials. We are continuing our efforts to serve a hot dinner Monday-Friday downtown, directly into the the hands of those who need it. Many thanks to our delivery drivers, cooks and food vendors!

For our Winter Weather Drive, we are gladly accepting the following items: blankets, sleeping bags, tents and tarps, socks, gloves, hats, scarves, hand warmers, coats and jackets. Please feel free to share this post and/or become a drop off site for neighborhood donations! Let us know how we can provide more info or help.

We are always looking for volunteers for our evening meal delivery. It's as easy as pickup/drop off! If you are interested, please check out our pinned post or message us.

Please note that our official hours of operation have changed. We are now only open TUESDAY, WEDNESDAY, THURSDAY from 4P-7P. This will be for drop offs, support and food pantry services. If you need to drop off outside of these hours, please message us so we can try to accommodate.

Thank you again for your continued support of what we do!

North Carolina Pastor Who Peed on Woman Identified

***This pastor (Daniel Chalmers) and his ministry (named Love Wins Ministry) has NO AFFILIATION WITH OUR ORGANIZATION***

Hi everyone! We’ve been getting a lot of questions this morning after this news story broke. This ministry simply has the same name as the ministry that originally launched Love Wins Community Engagement Center (and it ceased to exist as an organization by 2017).

We appreciate the inquiries and encourage you to share this post if you see questions being posted. As always, feel free to message us with any questions. Our hearts certainly go out to the victim of Daniel Chalmers’ actions.

*While we encourage open dialogue and questions, we are deleting non-productive comments*

We will temporarily close on Monday to give our staff and volunteers a break for the holiday. The hygiene closet and pantry services will resume on Tuesday, Sept 8.
*Please see our pinned post about continued efforts to support our community during this pandemic.

08/24/2020

When Covid19, quarantine, and shutdowns started, we were faced with having to close the building to all but a handful of volunteers. This was a reminder for us that Love Wins is more than just the building we are in. Our mission is to provide service to the homeless community, and we can do that regardless of our location.

We've continued to pivot and makes changes as needed in a desperate attempt to continue providing all of our services during the pandemic - especially since we were one of the few places providing hot meal services. This has included moving most of our services outdoors, including meals.

Unfortunately, due to many factors, providing onsite meal services during a pandemic is no longer sustainable for us. So, again we are pivoting.

While we are no longer providing hot meal services onsite, it does not mean that we won't be working to provide hot meal services in general. This week we will be providing to go hot meals at 4:30pm in conjunction with Church in the Woods at the First Presbyterian Church in Raleigh (112 S. Salisbury St). We are currently working with other locations and programs to make a plan for serving meals in the coming weeks.

Currently, community members can visit A Place at the Table Raleigh Wednesday - Sunday for breakfast,
and Shepherd's Table Soup Kitchen Monday - Friday from 11am - noon for lunch.

Our food pantry and hygiene closet services are still available as needed. Community members are still able to make appointments with our Peer Support Specialist and staff.

Change is never easy, but we are reminding ourselves that Love Always Wins. We remain dedicated to serving our community, and we appreciate your support as we continue to navigate through these uncertain Covid times.

Hiring within the community and paying a liveable wage has long been a passion of Love Wins. We are extremely excited to announce that we have been able to offer Mr. Kevin Smith a staff position! You might recognize him from the news story about us that Spectrum News recently aired. Please join us in congratulating him! 🎉
