The Oak City Outreach Center provides prepared meals to those in the community who are experiencing homelessness, hunger or food insecurity on the weekends and some select holidays. It is a community space where all are welcomed, engagement is valued, and hospitality is the foundation.
Mission: The mission of the Oak City Outreach Center is to provide a place of hospitality on weekends where people can gather to receive and give nourishment. This comes from the sharing of food and fellowship and fostering an environment of community building. As one of the church leaders providing food said, “We hope it will be a place where everyone knows your name and everyone is welcome.”

Today, Christmas Eve, the Oak City Outreach Center had the honor to serve meals to our friends that needed it. We served 268 people 392 meals.
Thank you to our food providers Rocky Top Hospitality Catering; Catherine Woyee and Friends; and Food 4 Thought for helping to make this happen. In addition, Women That Care came and distributed a multitude of hygiene and personal items with approximately 105 guests.
It was a great day and we were blessed to be open to provide a welcoming and hospitable environment for all that needed a place to be.
While many of us stayed inside to keep warm during this snowstorm, our dedicated volunteers still came out to serve our neighbors. By the end of the day, over 100 meals were shared. We are grateful to The Eck Family, Human Beans Together, Rocky Top Catering, and Food4Thought for braving the weather!
We hope that you are all safe and have made it through the storm thus far with out any issues.

We will also be OPEN TOMORROW from 10 am to 3 pm, and should also be good with food, but could use some additional volunteers. If you are available, please use the following link to sign up 😊

If you have any questions, please contact Kathy Johnson at (919) 812-2304.
Kathy will be in contact with food providers confirmed for tomorrow, this evening when returning from the afternoon meal being provided at the center today.

UPDATE: We are still hoping to be open on Sunday, and if so, would operate on a 10 am to 3 pm schedule. We will likely need volunteers to be on Standby for Sunday. Will be sending emails to volunteers and updating the sign up genius with updated shifts soon. Stay tuned... And stay safe and dry!
Due to the uncertainty of the weather on Saturday, and the inability to ensure the safety of the site, our guests, and our volunteers, Oak City Outreach Center will be CLOSED on SATURDAY 9/15/18.
Oak City Outreach Center, Shepard’s Table, and the Raleigh Rescue Mission are working together to ensure that there will be food available even with closures.
FRIDAY & SATURDAY bag lunches will be given out from 12:00 pm to 2:00 pm at the Raleigh Rescue Mission.
We are continuing to evaluate whether we will be able to be open on Sunday, but may not know that until Saturday. We will continue to update you through email and Facebook posts.
Given the changes in the projected path of Florence, we will make a final decision by early tomorrow morning about whether OCOC Weekend Services will be available. In the meantime, we are reaching out by phone to our generous food providers and volunteers to verify availability to assist with food provision this weekend.
Thank you for your patience as we continue to monitor the storm. If at all possible, we would like to be open this weekend, and will know better if that is possible by tomorrow morning. Stay tuned!

The Oak City Outreach Center shares meals and fellowship with our friends who are experiencing homelessness and/or food insecurity in the Downtown Raleigh area every weekend. To help continue this wonderful work and further the welcoming environment to serve the guests of the Center, we are in need of some much needed donations. The current Amazon list attached features our request for canopies for the comfort of outdoor seating in challenging weather; water coolers to ensure that cold water is always available; and rolling ice chests to ensure sufficient ice at the Center. We ask that anyone who is able to purchase items for us or donate ones that they may already own that is in good condition to check out the link.
Years-in-the-making homeless center is finally under way in Raleigh
Construction began on the Oak City Outreach Center, a center to help the homeless and end homelessness. It should open in 2019.
Today the Oak City Outreach Center was open for Memorial Day to provide food and a dry place to be for our friends in the community that needed it. Through the generosity of Rocky Top Hospitality Catering we served 305 people during the 11:00 am brunch meal; and through a group from the Islamic Center of Raleigh we served another 167 meals during the 1:30 pm mid-day meal. An unduplicated total of 343 individuals were served. We also had bananas, oranges, pears, apples and some desserts provided by Food 4 Thought.
The Oak City Outreach Center is honored to be a place were food, fellowship and community can be shared with those that need it most every weekend and some holidays like today when food is not being provided elsewhere in the community.
