Swing Into Action welcomes our Swing sister Mrs. Santa Claus! She is here to remind everyone to BUY BLACK this holiday. Many Black businesses have been hard hit by the pandemic and they need your dollars now more than ever. Buy gift certificates, purchase meals, books, clothing, makeup, and products made by Black people. Buy services, including hair, car washing, consulting services and more. There are at least 2 groups selling Swing and Groove paraphernalia. And don't forget Black-led nonprofits for year end donations.
Sister and brothers please put your business contact information in the comment sections below so we can patronize your business or service. Stay safe and see you in the New Year!

Pandemic Takes Toll On Children's Mental Health

Youth depression, anxiety and suicide attempts have been on the rise during the pandemic. School shutdowns keep kids from friends and therapists, leaving social growth up to parents in many cases.

Swing Into Action: Who are you voting for? By Bettie Murchison. This is my mother's mother, Mrs. Jennie Johnson Perry, pictured here in 1939 with Billy Jackson, a white child she babysat. She died May 1963 at the age of 79. Her parents were likely born into slavery. Her history is unwritten and the few photos we can find of her are usually with a white child in her arms. The only time she had enough value to be photographed was when she was in service to white people. Grandma Jennie never had the opportunity to vote. So when I vote, I always pay tribute to my ancestors, especially the women who paved the way for me. I ask you to pay tribute to the ones you voted in honor of by posting a photo or tribute on this page. Thank you!

Swing Into Action now swings into Election Mode! This week it is the HBCU Challenge. Rock your college gear and show us you voted during the Early Voting days in your state. Our VP candidate attended Howard U. So to honor her we rep whatever school you attended, or your parents/grands attended, where you paid someone’s tuition, or just like their colors. Doesn’t matter, show us who you support. And while you are at it, send your Alma mater a donation since there will be no homecomings this year!

UPDATE: Over 4 times as many African American absentee ballots have been returned due to errors in NC as compared to other groups. We felt it was important to share Mildred’s post another week. Please repost and share with our communities so we can make sure every vote counts. If you are with the board of elections for your state, please consider posting rules that govern voting on this page.
Swing Into Action is proud to share an informational video from Mildred Council, a very active community advocate. Her information on voting is very important for the upcoming election. Mildred has lived a life of service and has successfully been elected to many offices in her native Greenville, NC. Please share this with your networks!
