LLLI is a nonprofit, nonpolitical, and nonsectarian organization—recognized as an authority on breastfeeding around the world—founded by seven amazing women in 1956 in Franklin Park, Illinois, USA. Through a network of accredited volunteer “Leaders,” LLLI currently has a presence in sixty-five countries around the world. Leaders have breastfed their own babies and been specially trained to help mothers with breastfeeding. They keep up-to-date through continued training and studies of the most current medical research on breastfeeding. Although some Leaders make home and hospital visits, support is primarily given through monthly meetings, telephone help, and online through email and the LLLI Web site. Visit http://www.llli.org for: * Breastfeeding Information * Historical Information on LLLI * More on the LLLI Philosophy * Online Mother-to-Mother Help Forums * Online Meetings http://www.llli.org/[email protected]*rlarracas

Mission: Our Mission is to help mothers worldwide to breastfeed through mother-to-mother support, encouragement, information, and education, and to promote a better understanding of breastfeeding as an important element in the healthy development of the baby and mother.

🧡 https://www.llli.org/breastfeeding-info/milk-donation

"Recent research into the power of the scent of human milk found that newborn babies respond to the smell of human milk, especially their own mothers". A subsequent trial looked at whether this information could be used to reduce the acute pain of newborn infants during routine heel-prick blood sampling procedures, and found that exposure to the smell of human milk helped reduce the period of crying and cortisol levels.

What's so cool about laid-back breastfeeding?
More information from La Leche League Dunedin - Breastfeeding Support in this post 🧡

What’s So Cool about Laid-back Breastfeeding?

“Leaning back and letting gravity hold the baby is as old as humankind, but it was recently revived, analyzed, and named Biological Nurturing by British midwife Suzanne Colson, PhD. Here are some of its advantages over the long lists of instructions of the past quarter century:

🤱🏻There is no long list of instructions!
🤱🏼Gravity “sticks” your baby against you, so you don’t have to worry about a precise hold.
🤱🏾You get to decide on your position, your baby’s position, how much each of you wears, whether or not to hold or move your breast, and whether or not to move the baby.
🤱🏽Your torso “opens up” so that your baby can lie in any position on it, instead of having to lie across your lap because there’s nowhere else to go. If you’re “laid back,” you have no lap, and the number of arrangements becomes limitless!
🤱🏻Gravity gives your baby full, consistent, comforting support—no gaps or pressure points.
🤱🏽Gravity brings your baby toward your breast as he bobs around, instead of pulling his head away from it as can happen when you sit up.
🤱🏼Your baby’s whole body touches yours, triggering more instinctive responses in both of you.
🤱🏿Your baby isn’t likely to flail his arms and get in his own way, because he feels secure against you.
🤱🏽You can be totally relaxed—no tight shoulders or aching wrists.
🤱🏼You have at least one hand free to stroke your baby or pick up that glass of water you’re suddenly thirsty for. “

100 days of breastfeeding, day 42 twinning! I love this image, breastfeeding twins beyond infancy is perfectly possible but unfortunately not always encouraged antenatally - do you have experience of this? I’d love to hear 💕

Thank you to @mothertoarrows for sharing her gorgeous reference photo with me. Charity also had another set of twins during the pandemic! What a powerhouse! Thank you Charity 🥰

We in LLL have always known of the amazing ability of human milk to incorporate antibodies when mothers/nursing parents or babies are exposed to something infectious. Even so, it's wonderful to see the growing body of research showing it's true for COVID-19, too!

Parents commit themselves to those tiny beings they’ve brought into the world. Being strong and being committed should not carry with it the burden of always being happy about it. It’s okay to feel tired, angry, frustrated, alone—it’s also normal, and part of the human experience.

Social distancing, and perhaps being in social isolation at home, is hard - especially with a baby or child/ren. Your local LLL group may have online meetings running so that you can connect with others. Many also have Facebook groups where you can chat to others and share experiences.

Harnais de Palvik Bonjour, quels sont les conseils a donner a une maman dont l.enfant porte un harnais de Palvik? Quelle position? Avez vous de la documentation sur le sujet? Merci
Hi everyone. Today I tasted my breast milk (fresh not stored) and it doesn't taste sweet like it used to. My bub is 8months old, is this something that just happens over time? I didn't make it this far with my first born. Could it be what I'm eating? My family is currently moving internationally and I haven't been eating the best and also have been having more cola and less water and milk than normal due to stress. Any thoughts are appreciated. 🙂
Help! My 10 month old wants my nipple in her mouth ALL NIGHT. And pinched and kicks me. And when I try to move she wakes up. Sometimes for hours!! She’s never woken up like this or needed me in her mouth quite so much. It’s making me want to stop breastfeeding. How do I wean her gently. And what do I give her to make her sleep without my boob any more. I’m so tired and so touched out I just can’t take it any more. Maybe it’s a phase but it’s been going for weeks now already and I don’t know what else to do? X

Wanted to ask the group for advice, experiences, reliability for two resources for mothers to obtain pumps. One is aeroflowbreastpumps.com and the other is pumpsformom.com ? Has anyone used them, had success with either of these sites, ease of access and obtainability for pumps?!? Greatly appreciate any help and information you can provide to me! TIA 😉🙏🏽

Buenas tardes. Estoy haciendo una encuesta a mamás que hayan padecido COVID mientras se encontraban en etapa de lactancia. Si conocen alguna les agradecería invitarla a contestar la siguiente encuesta.
I am a Retired Teacher turned Nanny 15 yrs ago. I have taken care of alot of infants and I nursed my kids. I am having a difficult time telling a mom I now work for she is not feeding her 7 month old correctly. Picture of the app we use to account for daily care.
I have a 13 month old I’m trying to wean off, last couple of days she’s been tugging at my shirt constantly wants to nurse, is this normal? I started cutting down on breastmilk at 10 months she was doing well and now all of a sudden I’m experiencing this, is this part of the transition phase, how long does it last? Any suggestions? TIA
Does anyone recommend a good chiropractor for a 4 month old? Having problems when she breastfeeds any position she screams in pain and refuses to feed until she has to.
