The North Carolina Military Foundation is a privately funded, non-profit economic development group that is committed to growing the state's defense and homeland security economy.
Home to America's premier military installations and Commands, North Carolina’s core strengths in manufacturing, technology, research and development, and its highly competitive business environment make the state an ideal location to grow or relocate businesses in the defense economy. The leadership of the Foundation is comprised of distinguished retired military leaders with strong North Carolina ties and executives from North Carolina’s leading corporations intent on growing a vibrant defense and homeland security sector. The Foundation undertakes initiatives that: Generate new jobs and investment in North Carolina from defense and homeland security industry companies and organizations; Convene government, business and academic leaders – who share the common goal of growing the defense industry’s presence in North Carolina – with the businesses and organizations that have the potential to invest in the state; Create traditional and non-traditional defense and homeland security industry growth opportunities; and Connect North Carolina businesses that are seeking employees with North Carolina-based military personnel who are entering the civilian workforce.

A House proposal is seeking $20 million a year to help civilian trauma centers employ full-time military trauma teams.
A bill in Congress would provide grants to private sector hospitals that team with military trauma surgeons.

The Governor joined us at a special NC4ME Military Employment Summit geared towards government and public officials. See the press release for more details about how the NC4ME initiative is improving veteran employment in our state!
"The Department of Public Safety's support of the NC4ME initiative has contributed to the hiring of 370 transitioning service members and veterans to state law enforcement last year. Since 2013, more than 1,100 veterans have been hired by state agencies.
Governor McCrory cited the [NC4ME] initiative, as well as the creation of the new Department of Military and Veterans Affairs, for helping North Carolina's unemployment rate among veterans drop 50 percent in the last three years.
Under the governor's directive, NC4ME will continue connecting military service members and veterans with public and private sector jobs throughout North Carolina."

DoD Cyber Strategy - Needs Statement:
The Department of Defense, Rapid Reaction Technology (RRTO) Innovation Outreach Program will conduct a Solutions Meeting in the Washington, DC area in June/July 2016. The Solutions Meeting provides selected innovative companies an opportunity to make short technical presentations to government representatives about their technologies and capabilities. There is the potential that companies may be selected for pilot projects or experimentation if their technology appears to match the needs described below.

This internship offers the unique opportunity to participate in meetings with high-level industry, government, and military leaders covering a variety of topics vital to NC’s defense economy, including growing industry clusters and preserving installations.
