the anderson manor whys
| i enjoy the creative process of building a space that’s as layered and as complex and as nuanced as i am. our homes don’t have to neatly fit into one design style / category. we rarely do. i’m getting weird with it. join me.
| i am a staunch advocate of the heirloom and i needed a space to preach. hoarding your ancestor’s junk in boxes? not so great. weaving pieces that tell a story or ground you in your cultural history into your everyday spaces? very great. interact with those artifacts. they existentially matter.
| i want to dispel thrift myths. it’s not just a josie-grossy junkyard. if you cast a wide enough net, there are many high-quality, brand-name, like-new, and ready-to-use items that can be purchased for far less money and with far less waste. i’ll prove it.
| it’s an exercise in slow living. many of our preferences are dictated by convenience but there is no hurry in thrifting (or houseplanting). it’s meditative. it demands mindfulness. it hones attentiveness. nurturing these traits is basically my tiny act of rebellion.
| annnd lastly, connection. i work from home so this all helps me avoid turning into a bonafide recluse. consider your engagement a charitable donation. i’m grateful. thank you for being here. let’s keep sharing thoughts and having conversations, k?
