These are all the beautiful quilts that were completed in May. The Inova Hospital has not had as much need of our quilts due to the fact that most of the hospital was closed to focus on covid patients. We had to seek out other organizations that might benefit from our donations. We recently made deliveries to the Inova Covid Patient Unit, the Loudoun Nursing and Rehab Center, and the Loudoun County Foster Care Unit.

Station Stitchers has become an official President’s Volunteer Service Award certifying organization.

In 2003, the President’s Council on Service and Civic Participation founded the President’s Volunteer Service Award to recognize the important role of volunteers in America’s strength and national identity. This award honors individuals whose service positively impacts communities in every corner of the nation and inspires those around them to take action, too.

The PVSA has continued under each administration, honoring the volunteers who are using their time and talents to solve some of the toughest challenges facing our nation.

Led by the Corporation for National and Community Service and managed in partnership with Points of Light, this program allows Certifying Organizations to recognize their most exceptional volunteers. Station Stitchers has officially qualified as a Certifying Organization in 2020!

To learn more, please contact Station Stitchers at [email protected]. We have lots of volunteer opportunities for which we hope to honor your service to the community!

If you are one of our volunteers and would like to come to the shop to pick up some fabrics or drop off quilt tops, please call (571-271-3045) or email ([email protected]) to arrange a time on Wednesdays, Fridays, or Saturdays. We are trying to limit the number of people in the shop at any one time but are planning a "soft " opening.

The shop has been closed to the public the last few weeks but our volunteers haven't stopped working. Look at all the quilts that were completed in April. (Some quilts may look long and skinny but the photos were taken of them draped over a table. It's what you do when you're in the shop alone.) Our volunteers are the best!

Are you making face masks and in need of supplies? We do NOT have any elastic or seam binding. What we DO have is lots of 100% cotton fabric. We had to cancel our March and April Super Saturday Sales due to the quarantine. If you would like to make an appointment to purchase fabric at $5/lb (approx 3 yards in a pound) please call or email to schedule an appointment.

Are you an Amazon shopper? Do you place your orders through AmazonSmile? If you do not know what AmazonSmile is this is a description from their website:

"AmazonSmile is a website operated by Amazon with the same products, prices, and shopping features as Amazon.com. The difference is that when you shop on AmazonSmile, the AmazonSmile Foundation will donate 0.5% of the purchase price of eligible products to the charitable organization of your choice."

Station Stitchers is now a recognized as a charitable organization through AmazonSmile. If you select us as the charity of your choice and place your orders through AmazonSmile - it will NOT cost you anything extra but Station Stitchers will benefit. Thank you for considering us.

"GuideStar gathers, organizes, and distributes information about U.S nonprofits. It sounds simple, but in reality it’s an enormous undertaking. The nonprofit sector is huge and complex."

'Twas the night before Christmas, And the quilts were not made. The threads were all tangled, the cookies delayed. The stocking weren't hung, the pantry was bare. The poor weary Quilter, was tearing her hair. Stacks of fat quarters, tipped over in streams. Visions of Log Cabins, had turned into dreams. When what to her wondering eyes should appear, But a bus full of quilters with all of their gear. They went straight to work with just a few mutters, Sorting and stitching and brandishing cutters. The patterns emerged from all of the clutter, Like magic the fabrics arranged in a flutter. Log Cabins, Lone Stars, Flying Geese & Bear Tracks Each quilt was a beauty-even the backs. Her house how it twinkled, her quilts how they glowed. The cookies were baking, the stockings were sewed. Their work was all done, so they folded their frames, And packed up their needles, without giving their names. They boarded the bus, and checked the next address. More quilts to be made, another quilter in distress. She heard one voice echo, as they drove out of sight, Happy quilting to all and to all a good night! ~Author Unknown Merry Merry, Happy Happy, Quilty Quilty Y'all!!
Spent my first day today and will go back hopefully on a regular basis. It felt good to work on a quilt that someone will use
