We’ve announced the theme for iGovern 2019! This year’s theme word is: “Unmasked.” Here’s why we’re so excited about it:
🏛🎭
Sometimes, we create “masks” for ourselves to cover something about who or what we are that we don’t like. But often without us even realizing it, these masks can take us to toxic and harmful places. The constant effort to keep up appearances or control how we’re perceived wears us down like few other things can. It’s time for our masks to come off.
🏛🎭
As we explore the “Unmasked” theme over the summer, we are confident that it will lead to some powerful moments of bravery, growth, and healing. As we focus on who we are in Christ, we can abandon the facades and charades that never gave us peace in the first place.
🏛🎭
This theme also promises serious excitement and intrigue in our camp simulation! The realm of politics and government is filled with entities and individuals who are not what they seem. Are you ready for an adventure this summer? Go to www.genj.us/iGovern and register today!

Today is the National Day of Prayer. We have so much to be thankful for in this country, and we also face many challenges that need the grace and guidance of God. What is your prayer for our nation today?

On National Day of Prayer, we come together to give thanks to God for the many blessings He has given our great Nation. Religious liberty is a natural right, not a courtesy that government extends to us!

For followers of Christ, the empty tomb is the most incredible sign of victory over the evil that we have committed and experienced, and over death— the ultimate enemy. This gives us great reason for celebration and provides a source of true hope in every moment of life.
🌅
You can experience the love of Jesus personally this Easter. A relationship with Him is the most life-giving gift you will ever find. And it's offered to all of us because of the price He paid and the victory He won. Happy Easter!

What a great iCommand!

Over two days, our foreign policy crisis simulation intensive hosted students who served as leaders of the National Security Apparatus. They carried titles like titles like Director of the CIA, White House National Security Adviser, Secretary of State, Commander of Central Command, and even Forensics Analysit .

In the middle of stress and conflicting intelligence, they had to learn to prioritize, analyze, communicate, and command. This simulation is one of our favorites and we have run it for schools, conferences, churches, and homeschool groups. Do you have the skills to lead? Try them out at Generation Joshua's iCommand.

Today is the last day to apply for an internship with GenJ this summer! We'd love to hear from you. Go here to apply: https://hsldaaction.org/GenJ/programs/leadership-corps

Emily Roessler interned with us last summer. After that, she took her GenJ experience and put it to use on Capitol Hill working for a United States Congressman! (We’re kinda proud of her 🎉)

Interning for GenJ allows you to invest in high school students all summer. It’s both challenging and inspiring.

But you will also be invested IN by our staff and campus community.

Go here to apply for the 2019 GenJ Summer Intern Program: https://hsldaaction.org/GenJ/programs/leadership-corps.

The deadline to apply is February 25!

Senator Ben Sasse

The Senate is voting on Senator Ben Sasse's "Born-Alive Abortion Survivors Protection Act" today. Call your Senators and encourage them to support this bill. Giving medical attention to a child that has been born during a failed abortion attempt does not require courage or necessitate complexity. It just requires humanity.

The vote is scheduled for 5:30 p.m EST. Call today!

Big news: On Monday, February 25, the Senate will hold a vote on Senator Sasse's Born-Alive Abortion Survivors Protection Act.

A lot of Senators spend a lot of time telling people how they fight for the little guy. Well, here’s the chance for them to prove it.

Today we celebrate Presidents’ Day. As we honor the legacy of those who have led our nation in the past, there is much we can learn from.

Their character, courage, and discernment inspires us to face the complex issues of our time.

Their shortcomings remind us that the cause of truth and justice is something that must be pursued whole-heartedly in every generation by imperfect people.

Today, let’s remember, honor, and learn. And let’s also remember to pray for our current president and elected officials.

Sen. Ben Sasse: Don’t let infanticide be a partisan issue. We can all protect born babies.

Senator Ben Sasse with a powerful piece in USA TODAY about the recent fate of the Born-Alive Abortion Survivors Protection Act and how extreme some pro-abortion democrats have become.

"It’s painful to know that we are divided over an issue as fundamental as whether a baby taking her first breaths ought to be sheltered by our laws from neglect, abuse and worse.

But I remain hopeful, because I know that life wins. The love we see every day in the eyes of moms and dads for their newborn babies is an inescapable reminder of what we all know deep down to be true: that the tiniest baby is part of our human family, to be loved and cherished and protected."

Democrats blocked care for babies after failed abortions. Either they agree with infanticide, or don't have the courage to stand up to those who do.

Last summer, he travelled from the great state of Texas to intern at GenJ HQ. (Anyone remember Luke’s Rules for Life??)

Providence: A Journal of Christianity & American Foreign Policy

Here’s a new article from the one and only Nick Barden! (Slightly throwback GenJ students will remember his sharp mind and undying support for the Gold Party at camp.)

In this piece, he addresses the need for discernment at the intersection of faith and politics.

What has helped you form your beliefs about the way Christians should approach civics and government? What do you still have questions about? Discuss in the comments!

Given the state of contemporary discourse surrounding the nation, it’s no wonder so many young evangelicals are disillusioned with it. What we need is a return to a political theology that seeks to recover the practical role of temporal political institutions in light of the eternal.

END IT

Today is Shine a Light on Slavery Day.

Being pro-life means that we believe in the inherent value of EVERY person's life. Today we raise awareness for those caught in the midst of modern day slavery. There are many important things being done to combat human trafficking, sex slavery, and forced labor around the world. But it starts by individual people turning up the volume and bringing attention to this real issue ❌ #EndIT

“Indeed TODAY is SHINE A LIGHT ON SLAVERY DAY. A movement that was launched by millions of students and young people raising AWARENESS and ACTION like never before under the banner of this ❌, the END IT campaign.” - Gary Haugen, International Justice Mission Founder and CEO

This morning Gary spoke at the National Prayer Breakfast in front of the President and VP to SHINE A LIGHT on END IT and represent all the FREEDOM FIGHTERS around the WORLD.

OUR message has reached the White House and it isn’t stopping there.

Get INVOLVED. RAISE your VOICE to END IT.

Senator Ben Sasse

Don't. Kill. Babies.

If for some reason you can't get on board with that, then let's at least agree that we don't kill babies AFTER they are born.

Senator Ben Sasse recently introduced legislation to protect babies that are born after a failed abortion attempt.

Heartbreaking to see that Senator Patty Murray and other pro-abortion lawmakers are providing political cover for advocates of radical late-term abortion and infanticide.

“Please don’t reduce truths to an empty campaign slogan. Please don’t take the principle of dignity and equality this cheaply. There are just two sides of the debate on the floor tonight: you’re either for babies or you’re defending infanticide. That is actually what the legislation is that’s before us.”

The Born-Alive Abortion Survivors Protection Act: I Object to My Own Request

Did any of you see what Senator Ben Sasse did on the floor of the Senate in response to the radical pro-abortion news from NY and VA?

GenJ’s Glenn Bertsch breaks down the details of this unusual parliamentary move on the GenJ Blog! https://hsldaaction.org/GenJ/blog/liberty's-call/2019/02/01/the-born-alive-abortion-survivors-protection-act-i-object-to-my-own-request

“Mr. President, I now ask for a second reading and in order to place the bill on the calendar under the provisions of rule XIV, I object to my own request.”Why Would a Senator Object to His Own Motion?
