In the zeal to conflate being #prolife w/ every issue on the planet, pro-homosexuality, pro-transgenderism, pro-same-sex-marriage, pro-illegal-immigration Bishop John Stowe of the Diocese of Lexington, KY accuses #CovingtonCatholic teens of absurd apparel racism. In his leftist OpEd, accusing Trump of the same, tired unsubstantiated MSM allegations of "racism" and "anti-immigrant" sentiment, Bishop Stowe completely ignores the actual racism of activist #NathanPhillips and the "Black Israelites" cult. The Catholic Covington students did nothing wrong, but they're acceptable collateral damage for the anti-Trump Left and Right. Stowe doesn't mention a word about the outrageous threats of violence against the teens or the school in his OpEd, still accusing them of wrongdoing for adult activists attacking young students. It's their fault, of course, for wearing hats celebrating a President who has taken the strongest stand against abortion and Planned Parenthood than any previous President in American history. We're not uncritical of President Trump. (Thank Heaven we're not dealing with radically pro-abortion President Hillary Clinton!) One would think that a Bishop would admonish people to pray for our President, regardless of our politics. But that would require real leadership. There is nothing wrong with pro-lifers praising Trump for policies that benefit the most powerless and marginalized in our society--the unborn. That Catholic students in the March for Life wore the slogan of a politician who denigrates immigrants, refugees and foreigners is evidence that Catholics’ opposition to abortion has become separated from the even more basic truth of the dignity of each human person.
