The City Plaza - Youth Group Cancelled 3/15

Youth Group is cancelled for this week (3/15) due to poor road conditions. I know the main roads look good, but the dirt roads and back roads are still narrow and icy. It makes me nervous having so many people driving home in the dark (especially those who live on back roads) in these icy conditions.

My personal experience was driving into church this morning there was a big accident that forced me to take an alternate route down some dirt roads. I nearly got stuck trying to get my car over to let another car pass. SO ... I especially don't want people to have to deal with that on their way back from church in the dark.

Also ... i totaled our family car when I was a teenager in similar whether conditions -- but that was a long time ago.

See You at the Pole™ 2016 Promo

See You at the Pole is a prayer rally where students meet at the school flagpole or other designated spot before school to lift up their friends, families, teachers, school, and nation to God. See You at the Pole is a student-initiated, student-organized, and student-led event.

Please pray for the schools right here in Purcellville, that God would work in and through the students gathered; and if you are a student plan on participating tomorrow morning!

Below is the SYATP Schedule for the high schools in middle school right here in town:
Loudoun Valley High School — meeting at the flagpole at 8:00am
Wood grove High School — meeting at the flagpole at 8:00am
Harmony Middle School — meeting in room C9 at 7:45am
Blue Ridge Middle School — meeting at the flag at 8:00am

Let us be a generation that calls on God in faith that He hears and works. If you go to any of these schools, humbly go to God with other believers at your school and commit this year to Him.

Andrew Peterson: "So Long, Moses" (Behold The Lamb of God)

Jesus is the King that we all long for! He provides satisfaction and security like nothing the world has to offer. #jesuschangeseverything

Here’s the Andrew Peterson song that we listened to at the end of Sunday School last week. It give a broader picture of God’s sovereign hand in accomplishing His Mission despite Israel’s rebellion.

Also note Andrew Peterson is performing a concert at BRBC on September 23. Get tickets here now -- http://romania-reborn.org/concert/

The City Plaza - Sunday Frisbee -- Monday Stickball

What's happening this weekend????
Sunday Frisbee: You all are invited to come play Frisbee at my parent’s house (where we are the end of the summer pool party). The game starts at 3:00pm, so it wouldn’t hurt to get there a few mins early. Please text me if you plan on coming 571-442-2548. Also, please check this thread again before you leave to come to make sure it isn’t cancelled. Note: No cleats and NO bare feet — dress to play hard.

Monday Stickball: This Monday (labor day) 2:00pm to 4:00pm at Woodgrove Park in Round Hill VA. You don’t need a glove. Just show up.

What is Stickball? — basically is a really casual game of baseball only it’s played with a bat-like-stick and a tennis ball. It’s a lot of fun! Also just shoot me a text of you plan on coming, can check this thread before leaving for ay updates.

YOU MUST COORDINATE YOUR OWN TRANSPORTATION BOTH WAYS

Love God and enjoy the peace He has brought through Jesus Christ. Let’s raise His gospel as a banner over us!

Fear of rejection and inadequacy may be present, but know that even if our biggest fears come true, we share in Jesus’ suffering and humiliation, and the gospel seed will not return void.

Remember God's grace in your life! Being rich in MERCY, He clothed us in His righteousness and carried us to His table for fellowship = PEACE.
This cost Him everything including suffering and great humiliation but He endured it for the JOY set before Him. The JOY we can live in today.

Praise God! As you are going consider the lost around you and raise the banner of the gospel in peace and joy.

06/23/2016

HEY! So here's the verse for memorization:

Romans 3:10 …as it is written, “There is none righteous, not even one;”

Please consider the implications this truth has for you and for those who have not heard the whole gospel.

06/16/2016

Scripture Memory! As we go through this series on evangelism, let's spur each other on to memorize God's word together.

Storing God’s Word in our hearts and minds will cause it to overflow into conversations with those God puts in our path — including the lost.

Romans 1:16
For I am not ashamed of the gospel, for it is the power of God for salvation to everyone who believes, to the Jew first and also to the Greek.

06/15/2016

We are starting back up for the remainder of the summer!

My prayer is that this summer our group grows in compassion and love towards those who are lost around us, and that we become equipped with understanding and steadfast-love to articulate in our conversations with the lost that Jesus is alive and he Saves.

Come be a part today!

We will have the same structure as before: Hangout time, game, worship (lead by Anna Parker), lesson, small groups.

04/13/2016

Reminder-- there is no high school youth group tonight.

04/07/2016

Thank you #roadtoromania and Abby Stocker for making this epic moment happen! Also, thanks to all who gave, especially Reed for the great sacrifice of beauty.

Testimony night this wednesday! Come and share what God has done and has been doing in your life.
Giving testimony is a way to point to God, giving Him glory for His specific faithfulness and power made evident in your life.
If you think you would like to share, please give me a heads up.

03/16/2016

I need 5 dodge-ball-like balls for the game tonight. If you have one let me in the comments below, AND BRING IT!!!
We are planning on playing an outside game today (the perks of daylight savings). This is all dependent on if you all can bring the above items.

02/03/2016

Youth group this Wednesday night will be a little bit different. -- We plan on having a little longer game time and for the lesson we want to open it up to the anyone in the group to share something you learned about God this week (either from DNow or wherever).
God can use your testimony to encourage and bolster others to walk in HIM.

07/22/2015

Two weeks ago you all (the students) wrote anonymous questions for me related to homosexuality. Tonight I’m going to do my best to answer them in a way that is helpful and encouraging.

You guys asked some great questions, here is a sampling:

- How should we treat homosexuality within the church?
- Why did God allow some people to be homosexual if He loves them?
- Why point out homosexuality as a sin when Christians sin themselves? Isn’t that hypocrisy?
- How should you balance loving the sinner but still rejecting the sin
Is someone not saved if they are a homosexual or support homosexuality?
- Are you sinning if you support the gay pride movement?

Sexuality is an incredible and good creation of God. But like with everything good, Satan wants to destroy it so there can be no enjoyment of what God made. There are so many people that are trapped in lies related to sexuality (anything outside of God's design of marriage) and Jesus came to save them. None of us are free from the hurt of sin and I am thankful that Jesus came to save us.
