We are pleased to announce an opportunity to help keep our facility and pool safe. Our February 2021 Lifeguard Certification course is now open for signups!
What does becoming a lifeguard mean? On paper, it means you have 2 years of an active certificate in Lifeguarding, CPR, and First Aid training through the American Red Cross. In practice, becoming a lifeguard teaches us teamwork and responsibility. At work, it means flexible hours and a summertime tan. In life, it gives us the skills to save a life.
Lifeguarding certification looks good for summer jobs, becoming a babysitter, and even on college applications!
For questions about this class, you can email [email protected]. To register and reserve your spot, you can sign up here: https://tinyurl.com/yxj4aovc

You can contribute to Bart's fundraising goal on our website: https://princetonymca.org/donate/barts-challenge/
During our last "Paths to Success" of the summer, Rutgers University Police Officer Marlise Correa told our students a secret about her profession. We won't spoil the secret – watch the video highlight to find out what it is! Correa might have been our last video interview of the summer, but don't worry: "Paths to Success" will be back on October 7th with a great slate of successful people with diverse backgrounds.
How many chin-ups can you do in three minutes? This Thursday, our friend Bart Talloen is going to attempt the world record – and he’s raising money for the Princeton Family YMCA while he’s at it. “I find that listening is helpful in all aspects of life,” Dr. Rameck Hunt said about the most important lesson he’s learned. “They say there’s a reason you’ve got two ears but only one mouth: because listening is more important than speaking.” We’ve got more highlights from our most recent “Paths to Success” conversation on our website: https://princetonymca.org/programs/aceprogram/pathtosuccess/ Next up: Jason Carter, the National Executive Director of the High School Equivalency Testing Program. Our Princeton Family YMCA facility remains closed in compliance with statewide directives, so we’ve decided to once again place all memberships and monthly fees *on hold* for the month of June. But we need your help! As Y member Laurie says in her video, you can now easily “opt-in” to convert your monthly fee to a tax-deductible donation to support your Y during this difficult time. It's quick and easy – all you have to do is click the link below and complete the short online form. Your contributions will help the Y respond to our neighbors in need during this crisis, and will also assure that the Y can open its doors when the time is right, be ready and prepared to serve where it is needed most, and emerge stronger than ever! Thank you!! https://princetonymca.org/covid19/opt-in-campaign/
