Vision To help all wounded warriors and military staff with their day to day fitness by bringing out the warrior from within to build these facilities all over the country to help our wounded warriors!

Mission: Mission USA Warrior Boxing & Fitness is dedicated to helping our service men and women by giving them the ability to use Boxing for Fitness to help with their fitness goals and our wounded warriors recover from injuries, preventing them from going back into the field, giving them a chance to feel that they are still a warrior through Boxing. Our program helps relieve stress and frustration by hitting Focus mitts and heavy bags, teaching boxing techniques, self-defense and working with their balance for day to day movement by strengthening the core of their body. USA Warrior Boxing & Fitness is committed to their Mental, Physical and spiritual wellbeing through a safe and controled environment using boxing for fitness.

For the more than 1,000 Soldiers who’ve lost a limb in combat, the road to recovery is long and hard. Learning how to walk, use the restroom and cook again requires retraining the body, mind and spirit. And one of the best ways to accomplish this training, according to a team at Walter Reed, is with…

Meet Army Specialist Sam Angert. He will be represented by
USA Warrior Boxing & Fitness by walking 5x World Champion Zab Judah to the boxing ring on Dec 7th @ The Barclays Center. This is the least we can do to help him be recognize as a true hero and warrior!!!!

Story
A Midwood Army veteran is finally coming home Wednesday after a long battle to recover from massive injuries suffered in an explosion in Iraq - and get the military to grant him a discharge.

Sam Angert, 22, applied for a medical discharge in 2009 but had to wait two and a half years due to bureaucratic delays.

“I’ve been fighting for freedom in our country,” said Angert, the the son of Russian immigrants. “Now I just want to go live it.”

When Angert joined the Army at 18, he planned to make a career out of it.

All that changed in August 2009 when an improvised explosive device went off and hit the humvee he was driving in South Baghdad province, killing the lieutenant - and friend - Angert was with and sending him hurtling into a ditch.

“I was in such shock and so traumatized that I was fighting everybody off when they were trying to patch me up,” he said. “My adrenaline was pumping and I was bleeding out.”

Angert had massive pieces of shrapnel lodged in his face and arm, steel penetrated his skull, and there was severe hemorrhaging in his brain.

After coming out of the 19-day coma and returning to the United States where he was hospitalized at two military facilities, Angert made the difficult decision to seek a medical discharge. “I figured it was my time to go, because if I couldn’t be on the line with my guys in Iraq, then I didn’t want to do anything else. I didn’t want to sit behind a desk.”

He was told the process would take six to eight months. Instead, it took 28 months and only went through after Rep. Jerrold Nadler’s (D-Brooklyn and Manhattan) office intervened.

While he waited to be discharged, Angert concentrated on his recovery. He had four cranial surgeries, went to the gym daily despite instructions to take it easy, and went shooting in his free time. “I kept pushing forward no matter what,” he said.

Angert did overcome his injuries despite predictions at he might never walk again and would have permanent brain damage.

As he healed, he grew anxious to move on with his life, but couldn’t do anything until the military put through his papers, which dragged on with little explanation except that there were too many claims to process.

For the past two years, he’s been at the Warrior Transition Unit at Ft. Belvoir in Virginia, which serves wounded soldiers, many in a similar limbo. “It’s been a waiting game for a long, long time,” he said. “I just wanted to start my life over.”

Finally, after Angert contacted Nadler, the discharge went through. He plans to go to college and study psychology, hoping to assist other wounded veterans.

Nadler called Angert “a heroic and brave veteran who was willing to put his life on the line to serve his country. After a terrible and debilitating injury, I am so thrilled that Sam will now be able his end his two-year limbo and, at long last, return home to his family and future.”
