The Social Club

The Social Club We are a Social Club that caters to people in their 40s, 50s and 60s. We are primarily a Dinner, Happy Hour, Bay Cruise, Plays and Weekend Trip Club.

I’ve been looking for a Social Club where I can meet new friends and go to different fun events for several months. Unfortunately, there just isn’t any group that caters to someone in their 50s or 60s that just want to get together with friends, or meet new friends, and just have a good time. I started a Social Club¸ simply named The Social Club, that is reasonably priced, uncomplicated and requires no work from its members. This club focuses on Food and Drink such as dinner or lunch parties at local restaurants, wine festivals (not Art and Wine), beer festivals, going to games of local sport teams and short weekend getaways. I would like for you to become a member of The Social Club. There is NO Membership Fee but there might be a two to three dollar Administrative Fee added to each event to cover Club expenses. Your cost for most events will be $25 to $50. Of course Weekend Trips would cost more. Most events will be on Saturdays and you will have several days to decide if you want to go. Some events from services like Goldstar might have a shorter window to make a decision. The Social Club will have one to two events each month. You are not required to attend every one but you should want to attend on a regular basis. Type of Events The Social Club will schedule: • Sporting Events – San Francisco Giants, Oakland A’s, Golden State Warriors. Tickets can be purchased from Stub Hub, EBay or purchase group tickets if we have a large enough group. • Restaurant Parties – Make arrangements for a Prix Fixe Menu with local restaurants for just our group. This could be for Dinner, Lunch or Sunday Brunch. • Happy Hour Gatherings – Make arrangements with a local restaurant for an afternoon of great appetizers and drinks. • Trip to Nowhere – We would stay at a local hotel on a Saturday night – checking in around noon, have lunch, go to happy hour at the hotel bar and have a Prix Fixe dinner. This would be prearranged with the hotel management and we might get a group discount. There are a few hotels that are dog friendly if you want to bring your dog with you. • B & B Takeover – During the off season we would arrange to book an entire Bed and Breakfast for the weekend. We would negotiate a discounted price. This would probably take place in Late Fall, Winter or Early Spring. There are several places we could go; Wine Country, Gold Country, Marin Coast or Santa Barbara. • Plays – ACT, Curran Theater, Golden Gate Theater, Cal Shakes Amphitheater, Woodminster Amphitheater and the Lesher Center for the Arts. • Wine Tasting – Pick five to seven Wineries for a day of wine tasting and a great picnic lunch. We could rent a large van that will hold up to 12 or hire a luxury bus for transportation. • Beer or Wine Festivals - There are several of these events that happen throughout the Bay Area. This is not the typical Art and Wine Festival that happens throughout the summer. There are no arts and crafts just wine or beer tasting and usually food paring. • Bay Cruises - Champagne Sunset Cruise, Happy Hour Cruise with Appetizers and Cocktails, Dinner Cruise, Sunday Brunch Cruise. These are usually offered by Hornblower but there are other companies that offer sailboat cruises. These events can be purchased from Goldstar at a deep discount. Event information will be emailed to you. Payment for the event will be made by PayPal. You don’t need a PayPal account to make a payment and it is convenient for you and for me to track who has paid. Vendors can be paid using a debit card attached to the Club’s PayPal account. For example if we have a Dinner Cruise on Hornblower an email will be sent to you about the event. If you decide to go you pay the cost of your tickets through PayPal. When the deadline to pay for the event has passed the tickets will be purchased using a debit card attached to the PayPal account. There is a paper trail of who paid and how the money was spent. What is required of you: • Complete the Membership Application. • Agree to use PayPal to pay for each Social Club event you attend. You don’t need a PayPal account and you can pay with a checking account, debit card or credit card. • Agree to allow The Social Club to email me about its events. • Agree that if I invite someone to a Social Club Event that I will have them complete a Membership Application. This is a private club and everyone must be a Member to attend an event. For additional information or to receive a Membership Application contact Ken Gurley at [email protected]
