The Emergency Child Care Program is offering support for all essential workers as they continue serving our community’s needs during the COVID-19 health crisis. This program provides child care for infants and children up to school age, whose primary caregivers are medical and other essential workers living or working in Contra Costa County. Essential workers may go to CocoKids.org to complete a request.

***Message from the Superintendent: March 15, 2020 at 6:15pm***

PUSD Community,
I hope you are all resting and relaxing. I have a few updates for you:

Regardless of whether or not we move our spring break week, we will be continuing our school dismissal for a full three weeks, through April 3rd. Also, the Governor has informed us that the State will be releasing more detailed guidance for School Districts on Tuesday. We will make any adjustments and inform you of those on Tuesday.

We are working on providing remote learning for our students. If you are looking for something for tomorrow, please see the programming at KQED (Channel 9). They are offering a California State Standards-aligned educational programming starting tomorrow.

https://www.kqed.org/education/athomelearning

I also recommend this site where actors read stories to children…there are soooo many great options.

https://sagaftra.foundation/childrens-literacy/storyline-online/

This is a reminder, we have free to-go meals available for all children 18 and younger. You can pick them up between 7:30 and 9:30 and receive a breakfast and lunch to take with you. The child(ren) must be present (in eye-sight of our Child Nutrition workers) to pick up the meals. A special thank you to our Child Nutrition team for putting this together so quickly.

Our Schools and School District Offices will have staff present but will be closed to the public. If you have any medicine for your child that was left at the school, please contact the school to arrange to pick it up tomorrow.

We are following the Governor’s new information released today and any of our employees who are 65 or older or with health risks will remain home.

Thank you for being such a strong and supportive community!

Best,
Janet

https://www.kqed.org/education/athomelearning

https://sagaftra.foundation/childrens-literacy/storyline-online/

Janet

PG&E's Public Safety Power Shutoff is expected to start in the late morning/noon on Wednesday, October 9, through Thursday, October 10, at 12:00 pm. This could change depending on the situation.

According to PG&E, complete power restoration may take one to five days.

Impact is expected to be widespread. Find out what you can do now in Preparing for a Power Outage:

Tips include planning for your family and pet's needs, treating intersections as four way stops if traffic lights are out, having enough water and non-perishable food, and conserving water. People with electric security gates should lock them "open" while power is still on to ensure they can get in and out when it is not. Also make sure you can get your vehicle out of the garage.

Resource Center and Charging Stations:
A PG&E Customer Resource Center will be located at San Ramon Bishop Ranch on Wednesday, October 9th from 8 am to 5 pm. Customers can get information, water and charge up small electronic devices.

The County Employment Human Services department is setting up charging stations for community members during the PG&E power shutoff. These charging stations are available in the lobbies from 8 am to 5 pm at:
1305 Macdonald, Richmond
151 Linus Pauling, Hercules
400 Ellinwood Way, Pleasant Hill
4545 Delta Fair Blvd., Antioch

Additional Information:
• PG&E says that the power outage will not affect gas service. There is no need to shut off the gas.
• Contra Costa Health Services (CCHS) facilities, including Contra Costa Regional Medical and county health centers will not be impacted by the outage. CCHS will continue to provide services during the outage.
• BART says trains will be operating during the power shutoff in our County.
• Schools – For a list of school closures in Contra Costa, go to www.cocoschools.org.
