Calvary of Grace Church is a non-denominational church. We believe that salvation is by grace alone through faith alone in Chirst alone. We believe the Bible as the only source of faith, doctrine and practices. Our desire is to know Christ and be conformed in His image by the power of the Holy Spirit. Our motive is to glorify Him. Our mission is to win souls for Christ to the glory of God the Father.

Mission: As a BODY of believers, we desire to GLORIFY God by KNOWING Him and making Him KNOWN.

Christians have at their disposal the only means to bring genuine, lasting change: THE GOSPEL OF JESUS CHRIST. The world's heart can be turned toward God but only through the Holy Spirit, ONE PERSON AT A TIME.
If you claim to be a Christian, then your priority is the proclamation of the Gospel of Jesus Christ.
You only have one life to live and it will soon be past; only what is done for Christ will last.

PURGATORY: FAKE MEANS OF SALVATION

The concept of purgatory has ushered more people in hell than any other false teaching. Purgatory is supposedly the place where most people go after death to be purged of their remaining guilt and gain whatever merit they may be lacking to enter heaven.
This false doctrine of purgatory offers false hope to people hoping to atone for their own sins on the other side of the grave. This corrupted view of salvation will undoubtedly usher into eternal torment many who expected to have more time to achieve perfection in a place that doesn’t exist.

The Bible is clear: “It is appointed for men to die, after that judgment.” Hebrews 9:27

UNLESS YOU ARE BORN-AGAIN, YOU CANNOT GO TO HEAVEN.
ARE YOU BORN-AGAIN?

This is one of life's most important questions.
Jesus Christ said, "Except a man be born again, he cannot see the kingdom of God" (John 3:3).
It is not enough to reply, "I belong to the church; I suppose I'm a Christian."
Millions of nominal or Christians show none of the signs of being born again which the Scriptures have given us.

WHAT ARE THE SIGNS THAT YOU ARE BORN-AGAIN
1. First of all, John wrote: "Whosoever is born of God does not (continue to) commit sin" (I John 3:9). "Whosoever is born of God does not keep on sinning" (5:18).
A person who has been born again, or regenerated, does not habitually commit sin. He no longer sins with his heart and will and whole inclination. Sin no longer pleases him; it has become a horrible thing which he hates. However, he cannot eliminate its presence within him.

2. Second, John wrote: "Whosoever believeth that Jesus is the Christ is born of God" (I John 5:1).
A man who is born again, or regenerated, believes that Jesus Christ is the only Savior who can pardon his soul, that He is the divine person appointed by God the Father for this very purpose, and beside Him there is no Savior at all.

3. Third, John wrote: "Every one that does righteousness is born of Him" (I John 2:29).
The man who is born again, or regenerated desires to live according to God's will, to do the things that please God and to avoid the things that God hates. He wishes to continually look to Christ as his example as well as his Saviour and to prove himself to be Christ's friend by doing whatever He commands.

4. Fourth, John wrote: "We know that we have passed from death unto life, because we love the brethren" (I John 3:14).
A man who is born again has a special love for all true disciples of Christ. Like his Father in heaven, he loves all men with a great general love, but he has a special love for those who share his faith in Christ. Like his Lord and Saviour, he loves the worst of sinners and could weep over them; but he has a peculiar love for those who are believers. He is never so much at home as when he is in their company.

5. Fifth, John wrote: "Whatsoever is born of God overcomes the world" (I John 5:4).
A man who is born again does not use the world's opinion as his standard of right and wrong. He does not mind going against the world's ways, ideas and customs. What men think or say no longer concerns him. He overcomes the love of the world. He finds no pleasure in things which seem to bring happiness to most people. To him they seem foolish and unworthy of an immortal being.
He loves God's praise more than man's praise. He fears offending God more than offending man. It is unimportant to him whether he is blamed or praised; his first aim is to please God.

6. Sixth, John wrote: "He that is begotten of God keeps himself' (I John 5:18).
A man who is born again is careful, not only to avoid sin but also to avoid everything which may lead to it. He is careful about the company he keeps. He knows that evil communications corrupt the heart and that evil is more catching than good, just as disease is more infectious than health. He is careful about the use of his time; his chief desire is to spend it profitable.

Only those who are born again have these six characteristics, and those who do not have these marks are not born again. Do you have these characteristics? Are you born again?

THE SPIRITUAL POWER SOURCE SO THAT YOU WILL HAVE THE ENERGY YOU NEED TO GLORIFY GOD IN YOUR MINISTRY

Every battery needs two terminals to generate power…and in this case the terminals are our responsibility and God’s energy.

1. ACCEPT YOUR RESPONSIBILITY
Colossians 1:29 For this I toil, struggling with all his energy that he powerfully works within me.
Paul admits that whatever your ministry is, it is hard work. Whether it is flower arranging or hospital visitation or teaching kids, serving the saints is like an endurance race. There are ups and downs and long lonely stretches with little relief or encouragement. Few minister in the church for any length of time without sustaining an injury of some sort.
Now, if you look at your role in your local church, and you realize, “I’m not agonizing for the saints, I’m not laboring for the Lord.” Then you need to consider why not.
1 Peter 4: 10-11 As each has received a gift, use it to serve one another, as good stewards of God’s varied grace…in order that in everything God may be glorified through Jesus Christ.
Serving is not just for elders and deacons, it’s for all Christians. We are all in fulltime ministry. We are all ministers. We all have the job description of giving God glory through our gifts.
Now you might be thinking, ‘But I don’t know what my gift is.’ So how do we know our gift? By doing it. That’s how you discover your spiritual gifts; do whatever needs to be done until you find something you are good at, where there is a need, and that you prosper in. There are gifts of teaching, helps, administration, evangelism, compassion, giving, faith, prayer, serving, to name a few.
Start helping. Don’t wait to be asked, volunteer. Clean, wash, cook, sweep, vacuum, pick-up trash, cut the grass, offer a ride to someone. Visit the sick and elderly. Sometimes you just need to do what needs to be done and it really doesn’t matter whether you enjoy it or not.
Don’t get caught up in the categorizing or naming of your gift, just serve God in any which way you can. All gifts are important and needed to build up the Body of Christ. That is not to say you shouldn’t try to discover your gift; I’m saying that you aren’t relegated to benchwarmer status in the kingdom of God until you can name your gift.”
It’s surprising how many Christians come to church and go home and have no participation in the body life all week long.
Do you know what Paul would say? “Stop being lazy and use your gift!”
Rom 12: 6, 11 - Having gifts that differ according to the grace given to us, let us use them… Do not be slothful in zeal, be fervent in spirit, serve the Lord.
There are so many ways you can serve your brothers and sisters in the Lord. Some of those tasks are less flashy than others. Some will receive very little public recognition, if any. Some will deserve thanks, but never get it. Don’t serve the pastor or the leaders, serve God. Don’t serve to gain praise or recognition. Serve as God through your actions. He never misses one thing you do. And He rewards you for doing it!
Heb 6: 10 For God is not so unjust as to overlook your work and the love that you showed for his sake in serving the saints, as you still do.

2. ACCEPT YOUR DEPENDENCE
Colossians 1:29 For this I toil, struggling with all his energy that he powerfully works within me.
There is a fascinating paradox in the Christian job description. We are given work to do by God, but we are also told we can never do it on our own.
These are the words of Jesus – John 15: 4 Abide in me, and I in you. As the branch cannot bear fruit by itself, unless it abides in the vine, neither can you, unless you abide in me. 5 I am the vine; you are the branches. Whoever abides in me and I in him, he it is that bears much fruit, for apart from me you can do nothing.
The job description of a Christian does not include “able to work independently”. In fact, Jesus’ lesson is “Apart from me you can do nothing. But that’s okay. Stick close to me and my power will work within you.”
This is the perplexing tension in the Christian life: God demands your effort and he demands your dependence. Even the apostle Paul knew this when he said “By the grace of God I am what I am,…I worked harder than any of them, though it was not I, but the grace of God that is with me.” (1 Corinthians 15:10)

Ephesians 2:10 For we are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared beforehand, that we should walk in them.
We are designed and crafted by God for the purpose of accomplishing the works God has prepared for us—to serve the saints, to edify the church, to evangelize the lost, to be salt and light—all to glorify God.

“Apart from me you can do nothing.” We need to look to Jesus for everything. We need to ask him for help before every task. We need to pray for wisdom before every decision. We need to read his word for counsel on relationships and family and work and everything.

Life is not easy, it is hard. Why? Because we live in a sin-cursed world. But that realization should cause us to be even more dependent on Christ in everything.
Jesus often told people to do impossible tasks. Then he supplied the power.
Does your life feel like the tasks are impossible? They are! You can’t do what God tells you to do. But God empowers you to do what he need you to do. So learn your lesson and turn to Jesus. Jesus wants us to be totally dependent on him. But what does that even look like?
God gives us resources that must be used. Prayer, the Bible, the edification of the saints, encouragement. We call these the means of grace. These are the muscles that carry our load.

1. Prayer: Matthew 7: 7 Ask, and it will be given to you; seek, and you will find; knock, and it will be opened to you. 8 For everyone who asks receives, and the one who seeks finds, and to the one who knocks it will be opened. 9 Or which one of you, if his son asks him for bread, will give him a stone?
In prayer we ask God to meet our need and he will meet it.
Prayer is the access card to the grace we need for our ministry and daily living.
2. Word: Ps 119:105 Your word is a lamp to my feet and a light to my path.
We need regular time with the Lord in prayer and the study of his word, so that we learn his will and his ways. Without this regular time to charge us, we are like one of those solar-powered calculators that’s been stuck in the drawer for too long. Useless. So read the Bible, study it, sit under good preaching of the word.
3. Wisdom: James 1:5 If any of you lacks wisdom, let him ask God, who gives generously to all without reproach, and it will be given him.
Remember that the batteries are not included. Only God has the power.
4. Fellowship and Encouragement: Hebrews 10:24 And let us consider how to stir up one another to love and good works, 25 not neglecting to meet together, as is the habit of some, but encouraging one another.
When you are feeling spiritually drained the worst thing you can do is skip church. Hopefully, this stint in the wilderness courtesy of COVID-19 has convinced you of the necessity and sweetness of regular face-to-face fellowship.

CONCLUSION
Employ the means of grace as conduits to your power source. Stop playing the castaway on a desert island. You live in the household of God. You have a responsibility and you have privileges. It is time to get to work. Stop relying on your own efforts and rather toil, struggling with all his energy, that he powerfully works within you.

Jesus answered him, "Truly, truly, I say to you, unless one is born again he cannot see the kingdom of God." Nicodemus said to him, "How can a man be born when he is old? Can he enter a second time into his mother's womb and be born?" Jesus answered, "Truly, truly, I say to you, unless one is born of water and the Spirit, he cannot enter the kingdom of God. That which is born of the flesh is flesh, and that which is born of the Spirit is spirit.
Do not marvel that I said to you, 'YOU MUST BE BORN-AGAIN." (John 3:3-7).

SO UNLESS YOU ARE BORN-AGAIN, HEAVEN IS NOT YOUR DESTINATION WHEN YOU DIE - HELL IS!!

HEAVEN

The Bible says that all people will live forever, it’s just a matter of where. History records that early Christians are preoccupied with HEAVEN.
When one of them dies, they rejoice and give praises and thanks to God, and they escort They consider death as being set free from the bondage of this corrupt world and going home to PARADISE. Earth is a foreign land to them and HEAVEN is their real home.
Everything that they believe about heaven is rooted in the Scriptures.
The Apostle Paul writes these:
“To me, to live is Christ and to die is gain .... I desire to depart and be with Christ, which is better by far” (Philippians 1:21, 23).
“As long as we are at home in the body we are away from the Lord..... We would prefer to be away from the body and at home with the Lord” (2 Corinthians 5:6, 😎.

All human beings have a terminal disease called DEATH. Death rate is 100%. Unless the Lord Jesus Christ comes soon, we are all going to die. People don’t want to talk or think about death and yet 165,0003 people die every day and go either HEAVEN or HELL.
King David said, “Show me, O Lord, my life’s end and the number of my days; let me know how fleeting is my life......... Each man’s life is but a breath” (Psalm 39:4-5). Life here on earth is short, very short.

God uses suffering and impending death to unfasten us from this earth and to set our minds on what lies beyond. Most people are unprepared for death. They deny or avoid the thought of it. People live under the fear of death.
In 1 Corinthians 15:55, the Apostle Paul asks, “Where, O death, is your victory? Where, O death, is your sting?”
What delivers us from the fear of death? What takes away death’s sting? Only by trusting JESUS CHRIST alone who died on our behalf and conquered death by resurrecting from the dead. He has gone ahead to prepare heaven for us to live with Him. If you have not trusted Him as Lord and Savior, you will fear death and its sting - and you should.

"Do not love the world or the things in the world. If anyone loves the world, the love of the Father is not in him. For all that is in the world—the desires of the flesh and the desires of the eyes and pride in possessions—is not from the Father but is from the world. And the world is passing away along with its desires, but whoever does the will of God abides forever." - 1 John 2:15-17

"But godliness with contentment is great gain,
7 for we brought nothing into the world, and we cannot take anything out of the world.
8 But if we have food and clothing, with these we will be content.
9 But those who desire to be rich fall into temptation, into a snare, into many senseless and harmful desires that plunge people into ruin and destruction.
10 For the love of money is a root of all kinds of evils. It is through this craving that some have wandered away from the faith and pierced themselves with many pangs." (1 Timothy 6:6-10)

Some of the wood is used to make a fire for heating
or for cooking. One piece is made into an idol, then the woodcarver bows down and worships it.

16 He enjoys the warm fire and the meat that was roasted
over the burning coals.
17 Afterwards, he bows down to worship the wooden idol.
“Protect me!” he says. “You are my god.”
18 Those who worship idols are stupid and blind! 19 They don’t have enough sense to say to themselves, “I made a fire with half of the wood and cooked my bread and meat on it. Then I made something worthless with the other half. Why worship a block of wood?”
20 How can anyone be stupid enough to trust something that can be burned to ashes?[g] No one can save themselves like that. Don’t they realize that the idols they hold in their hands are not really gods? ISAIAH 44:15-2
