LMC EOPS Extended Opportunity Programs & Services (EOPS) EOPS Program

EOPS exist to promote academic excellence in 6 areas of students engagement:

1.

Enrollment-- apply and register for classes
2. Retention-- complete classes
3. Success-- earn grades of C and better
4. Persistence-- register for classes next semester
5. Transfer-- enroll at a 4-year institution
6. Graduation-- earn a degree

EOPS delivers services that are above, beyond, and in addition to services available to all other LMC students from under-represented communities in higher education. To participate in Los Medanos EOPS, you must be:
1.A California resident
2.Enrolled in full-time units or approved unit waiver
3.Qualify for a BOGG Fee Waiver under method A or B
4.Educational Disadvantage
5.Completed less than 70 degree applicable units

EOPS offers a whole range of academic, financial, and social services to help you succeed, including:
1.Grants & Scholarships
2.Priority Registration privileges
3.Academic counseling and progress monitoring
4.Small group counseling
5.Assistance and information on, transferring to a four-year college
6.Book vouchers, school supplies, and calculator loans
7.Transportation assistance (Parking Permit)
8.Community outreach activities

EOPS Counseling Goal:
To assist students in navigating through the complex educational system through self-awareness, self-determination, and self-reliance. Values

CARE Program

CARE supports the a) enrollment, b) retention, c) persistence, and d) transfer of EOPS students who participate in the TANF/CalWORKs program by offering them services that are in addition to, above, and beyond those available to LMC students. As an EOPS student, you may also receive benefits through the Cooperative Agencies Resources and Education (CARE) program. The requirements are:
1.Single head of household
2.Have at least one child under the age of 14, and
3.Participate in TANF/CalWORKs. CARE services include:
1.Café-tix (on-campus dinning privileges)
2.Childcare
3.CARE grants
4.Automotive repair service
5.Life Workshops
•Interpersonal relationship management
•Skill development
•Money management
•Time management

EOPS will begin distributing applications for FALL 2011 starting May 1, 2011 to July 15, 2011. We will begin accepting applications on June 13, 2011 to August 1, 2011. Please make sure you have the check list attached to the application completed before submitting your application. Any incomplete applications will be given back and not processed.
