New law prohibits vehicles blocking sidewalks, punishable by a $250 fine

A win for accessibility ♿️

Introduced by Jennifer Longdon, House Bill 2395 is "designed to keep walkways clear for everyone, including those who can’t “just go around” such obstacles. Public or private driveways, crosswalks and sidewalks are among the areas included in the law’s provisions."

Full story below by Cronkite News!

A new law makes blocking sidewalks with vehicles a crime, meant to keep walkways clear for all pedestrians. It was one of 12 laws that took effect Wednesday.

Loan Forgiveness for Disabled Borrowers Was 10 Years in the Making

"Although five doctors and a judge from Social Security all agreed that she was fully disabled, Education Department officials continued to insist she pay off $43,000 in loans."

At ProPublica, we measure our success by the tangible impact our stories have. Sometimes it takes more than a decade to see a flawed policy change.

Becca Meyers, a deaf-blind three-time Paralympic gold medalist, has withdrawn from the 2020 Paralympic Games.

Since 2017, Meyers has utilized her mother as her personal care assistant (PCA) to navigate swim meets.

However, the USOPC has denied her request to bring her mother to Tokyo for the 2020 Paralympic Games due to COVID-19 safety measures.

In a statement to the Meyers family, the USOPC stated that one dedicated PCA will accompany the U.S. Paralympic swim team—consisting of 34 total athletes.

Becca Meyers should not have to choose between her safety and her chance to represent her country.

Ability360 strongly urges the USOPC to reconsider its decision to allow Meyers and other Team USA Paralympians to be accompanied by the PCA of their choosing at the upcoming 2020 Paralympics.

Teachers, Directors, Principals, and Administrators in Arizona! I wanted to share a free opportunity for you and your teams to learn about special education transition support. As you all know, transition planning helps our students meet their educational goals, increases their engagement with schools, and in many ways gives the students the "why" behind what they are learning. Below in the opportunity you will want to attend to learn about the Community of Practice on Transition Planning. This group will be able to provide you with resources, support, planning, and building your network/community. Our goal is to have over 100 educators from our regions to connect general educators, special educators, directors, and administrators. Please help us meet this goal and learn how you can support your students in the general education classes and special education classes to meet their goals! Here's the information and registration about our statewide event: The Arizona Community of Practice on Transition (AZCoPT) has scheduled the next Local Community of Practice on Transition (LCoPT) Networking Event for Wednesday, July 21, 2021 from 1:00 p.m. to 2:30 p.m. Thank you to those who responded to our Doodle Poll. The Arizona LCoPT Networking Events are intended to provide an opportunity for community stakeholders interested in improving the secondary transition experience and post-school outcomes for youth and young adults who have disabilities in Arizona. Our focus this month is sharing statewide and regional transition-related resources. Be prepared for interactive breakout sessions by your region where you can share and learn about available resources and gain information about the LCoPT(s) in your area. Please register in advance for the July 21st Networking Event here.
Saw the tennis team on Fox10 AZAM this morning. I wish you guys had something closer to the Queen Creek area. I'm 49 and have Spina Bifida.
I am with Visit Mesa, and we are doing a video/photo shoot to show off our beautiful Mesa area trails and climbing. We are in need of 1-2 people that might be willing to model the trail/rocks and have a visible disability (preferably an amputee) as this video is to show our city from the accessibility standpoint, like a "wounded warrior" inspirational shot (our motto is "City Limitless" so we want to REALLY tell that story). The video/photo shoot is on May 17th early morning to early afternoon. If there is someone in the Phoenix, Arizona area that is interested, I'd love to connect with you! Thanks in advance for any help! Please feel free to email me @ [email protected] - THANK YOU IN ADVANCE!
I can't even log into my account and are you ever going to have IN-PERSON Yoga or should i find another Health and Fitness Center?
Share Your Blessings is a non-profit that Does Not Sell Anything! We donate ♫ Beamz Interactive Music Systems ♫ at NO COST to qualifying applicants. Ages 5 and up. To all the Social Workers, Happy Social Worker Month!
This business has no business helping people in need. Total incompetence with everyone here! Pretty sure they’re run by a bunch of trump supporting morons. When a 69 year old woman with many health issues and getting cancer treatment needs a new inflatable medical mattress for over a year and all they say is to look on Amazon you have no reason to be in this field. TERRIBLE TERRIBLE TERRIBLE “company”!
Your website won't let me log in and since you have no support option on it this is the only way I have to contact anyway except by phone.
