Did you know that Summit Therapy Animal Services, LLC developed the Animal Care Curriculum for PosAbilities? In this class, students are trained to pet sit, walk, groom, and work at a pet store. Participants have so much fun getting to be with dogs and learn these skills! 🐶❤

Our goal is to raise $5,000 to help reduce our cost for this incredible program. Will you please help us? https://tinyurl.com/3ccucewa

Our non profit therapy work is at a standstill and we need your help!

Hi All! I hope you are well!

Like many of you, we are all at a standstill trying to see what happens during this pandemic. I wanted to let you know that as of today, all of our teams are healthy and no one has the virus. Praise the Lord!

However, we are certainly impacted by the virus because ALL of our therapy animal services are on hold until further notice and if we don't work, we don't get paid. I am doing my best to stay on top of the announcements, so Summit can take advantage of the available help from the federal, state and local governments.

We have also been blessed with donations from people who believe in what we do and are in a position to help during these troubling times. I TRULY THANK YOU for your assistance!!! It means so very much to us!!!!

We are praying that you all stay healthy and that we get through this safely! God Bless!!!

Luke got to visit his friend TG at the Department of Disabilities Services (DDS) in Washington, DC. Initially TG didn't want to come to his meeting, but when he learned that Luke was already there, he came straight away. While there, Luke's job was to keep TG calm during the meeting. Luke (10 mos old) instinctively went over to TG and laid next to his leg. Then a little later, after Luke fell asleep, I prompted Luke to get back to work and whispered in his ear "Go Visit". Luke got up and went back over to TG and calmed him down. After that, whenever TG started to escalate, Luke put his head on the table and stared into TG's eyes, which made him calm down and pet Luke and give him treats.

Later in the meeting, I learned that TG told the Judge that the visits from the dogs was his favorite thing to do. Then TG spent the next 30 minutes telling the Judge and other attendees how i use the dogs and talked about their strengths. The DDS Director admitted that she wasn't a big supporter of having the dog there, but after seeing how TG responded, said that she wants a dog at every meeting!

I (Michelle) was so very impressed with Luke that I'm a VERY HAPPY DOG MOMMA!!! Luke did a wonderful job today!!!! Even the attorneys commented on Luke's ability to help TG and the Director said that she never saw anything like it!

Our non-profit Summit Dog, has been growing as much as puppy Luke has! We cannot keep visiting groups of people who need our animal assisted therapy but cannot afford it without YOUR help! If you would like to sponsor a therapy team visit, please visit: www.paypal.me/summitdog. Every level of support helps! Thank you!

Our newest therapy puppy Luke isn't so puppy-like anymore! He's now bigger than his therapy colleague Tibby. Luke and Tibby have both been working so hard; loving every minute of their twice a month visits to the kids at INMED USA opportunity center in Sterling. Summit Dog would like to thank the Paxton Trust for sponsoring one of these visits. If your corporation or charitable group would like to help sponsor a visit please contact Summit Dog.

Luke, our therapy dog-in-training, is currently accepting donations to Summit Dog's Dog Days of August fundraiser for the Summit Dog Assurance Fund. These donations help Luke on his journey to become an outstanding therapy dog and serve many people who will benefit from his services! Here's Luke at his vet visit this week! www.givinggrid.com/summitdog

YOUR SUPPORT MADE THIS HAPPEN! Luke went to the vet this week! She kept saying, "He is PERFECT; good weight, shiny coat, HUGE PAWS, and an absolutely wonderful temperament!" We don't usually like dogs to be out of our sight, but since Luke needs to work on "supervised separation" for his AKC CGC Test, we left him alone with the doctor, and he passed with flying colors! Donations to the assurance fund help fund Luke's vet visits and keep his journey to become a super therapy dog on track! THANK YOU for your donations!!

Chip and Michelle had a GREAT time at the FORT today working with our partners at The Ryan Bartel Foundation!

Great group of teens at The FORT in Sterling today. We kneaded, rolled, stamped, braided and decorated, feeling the texture and releasing any stress or anxiety, just enjoying the moment during our Clay Intentions and Bread making. In music we expressed ourselves, allowing the power of music to reach inside ourselves while we connected with each other. For our canine experience Chip, the white German Shepherd, worked hard and we learned how his sounds, eye contact, physical gestures and behavior gives us insights into his wants and needs, making us realize we can read humans much in the same way. Thank you to all our volunteers, workshop leaders and Sterling Community Center for allowing this afternoon of connection and building resilience to take place. #theFort #connectandgrowstrongtogether

Q made his first Summit Dog Therapy Dog visit to The Johnson Center at Falcon's Landing yesterday, under the gentle tutelage of Uncle Carmine. He did a great job 😊!
Our students worked hard this week! Come and support our entrepreneurs today from 1-3 at the PosAbilities Pop up shop as they promote their own brands and products! All proceeds will go to our friends at Summit Therapy Animal Services, LLC! RePurpose - Virginia worked with students during their entrepreneur week at camp. We learned all about small businesses and how to launch their own business and brand. Students created their own brands and made their own logos. Some products we made were: decoupaged clipboards, oil lamps and T-shirts! Today we staged and took product photos to sell our items! If you didn’t get a chance to stop by and would still like to make a contribution to Summit Dog here is the link: https://tinyurl.com/3ccucewa

Help us support Summit Therapy Animal Services, LLC for our "Intro to Dog Careers" class!🐶 Our students look forward to seeing the dogs (and other animals) each week. Volunteers from Summit Therapy Animal Services, LLC are teaching our after-school kids the importance of therapy dogs for the physical and mental wellbeing and safety of our neighbors in need. Trainer Michelle Robinson and Chip played soccer with our kids to practice commands. Trainer Nancy taught our kids how to brush puppy Zoey's teeth--a healthy habit for dogs and kids. Everyone looks forward to helping Michelle and Nancy socialize their therapy dogs as they prepare for their future owners. Learn more at https://www.summittas.com/.
Students at Osbourn have raised money through sales to have therapy dogs from Summit Therapy Animal Services, LLC visit once a month. The dogs help students with disabilities learn and engage through interactive activities.
Grateful for a fantastic day at the FORT today, with very engaged teens wanting to connect with their peers and eager to have fun while also learning some new resilience skills for their tool box. Thank you to workshops leaders who did a great job, our volunteers who help make our programs happen and all the teens for such great attitudes! Thank you Summit Therapy Animal Services, LLC for bringing puppy Luke and Carmile.
A fun and relaxing afternoon for the FORT at Sterling Community Center where we connected and de-stressed together. In our mindfulness workshop we talked about how the acts of kindness and generosity goes well beyond the acts themselves as we made one stressball for ourselves and one to give to someone else. Working with Parker & Wilson we learned about the differences and strengths of each dog as well as ourselves, discovering strengths we didn’t realize we had. In Music we learned how to focus, direct and express ourselves as each person got to conduct a percussion ensemble. In Partner yoga we discovered how to connect and trust each other with lots of laughter and in meditation how to become centered and let distracting thoughts float away on a cloud. While teens were busy Parents got to connect and share in their Parental Support Group moderated by Neil McNerney. Thank you Morgan Orthodontics for sponsoring such a great FORT! Thank you to our partners Summit Therapy Animal Services, LLC, @APlaceToBe and all our volunteers who made this day possible!
Michelle & Tibby had a wonderful time today with our new friends at The FORT & Ryan Bartel Foundation!!! This is a great organization working with local teens!!!
