Athena Music Foundation promotes opera and classical music by presenting dynamic performances of the highest artistic quality in New York City and around the globe.
Athena Music Foundation's programs include a recital and chamber music series, and a global touring troupe, The Athenians, who have appeared in such far-flung locations as Dubai, Macau, and Beijing. Based in New York City, the Athenians have built a reputation for their high-caliber performers, and uniquely thrilling and engaging style of opera gala concerts. Athena Music Foundation is dedicated to music education, specifically our Young Performers Program which includes opportunities for student instrumentalists and singers to work closely with our exceptional teaching artists in lessons and performances. In addition, we regularly provide opportunities for students from under-served communities and senior citizens to attend our events.

The Athenians are an ensemble of professional soloists from the Metropolitan Opera and other leading opera companies and orchestras who specialize in uniquely engaging opera gala concerts, tours, and staged opera productions. Our performances have included gala concerts for the World Finance United Exchange Summit 2019 in Dubai, Kamen Brain Tumor Foundation, the Consulate General of France in New York City, Vital Voices - Fortune's Most Powerful Women and the US Department of State Women's Mentoring Partnership , the Smithsonian Freer/Sackler Museum, International Women's Day and WeLink Film Festival at the United Nations, The City of Tenafly Summer Concert Series, Palm Beach Theater Guild, and a tour of China with performances at Tsinghua University in Beijing, and Dom Pedro V Theater in Macau. The Athenians have collaborated with the National Chorale, Metamorphosis Chamber Orchestra, and have appeared in productions of La traviata and The Paris Salon with the Berkshire Theater Group.
Athena Music Foundation Recital and Chamber Music Series continues in 2019 with exciting performances at one of New York City's architectural treasures, the gorgeous Kosciuszko Foundation located at 65th Street and Fifth Avenue. This season we present Metropolitan Opera tenor Gregory Lorenz in a new arrangement byDr. Michael Fennelly for string sextet of Six Songs from 'A Shropshire Lad' by George Butterworth. In addition, Dr. Michael Fennelly conducts the Athena Chamber Ensemble in Arnold Schoenberg's intensely romantic Verklärte Nacht. Our season continues with Soprello, a musical collaboration between soprano Allison Pohl and cellist Alistair MacRae, in a program that explores the connections between vibrating strings and the human voice. They will be premiering a new Bach/Gounod Ave Maria arranged by Dr. Michael Fennelly.
Athena Music Foundation Recital Series has produced concerts featuring soprano Alyson Cambridge and pianist Dr. Michael Fennelly at Carnegie Hall, soprano Joanna Mongiardo and pianist Rochelle Jonck at the National Opera Center, and soprano Megan Weston and Michael Fennelly at the historic Lobero Theatre in Santa Barbara.
