The Rotary Club of Morehead City has a fundraiser selling holiday wreaths to provide dental work for children and adults of Ocracoke and scholarships at West Carteret High School.
These natural Fraser Fir wreaths are made fresh locally and by hand in Ashe County, North Carolina by skilled craftsmen and women, who have been making wreaths every season for years. The wreaths are full, fresh and fragrant and made from trimmings of Fraser Fir Christmas trees still in the field. Fraser Fir trees are native to the High Country of North Carolina and East Tennessee and are highly prized for their appearance and needle retention. Sixty Years of Perfect Attendance!!! Earl joined the Rotary Club of Morehead City in July 1960. Since he joined the club it has met approximately 3,000 times. In all those years, Earl has not missed a single meeting.
Earl accomplished this amazing feat because he considers attendance extremely important. No organization can function efficiently unless all its members are present. In his case, he has been fortunate to have had good health most of his life, and he also had help.
Once when he was in the hospital, Rotary held its weekly meeting in his hospital room so he could maintain his perfect attendance record!!
Everyone knows the importance of attendance, whether at work, civic clubs, or other organizations to which one belongs. However, few individuals can consistently maintain perfect attendance year after year. Occasionally, however, someone will come along who is so conscientious that missing a meeting or a day’s work is anathema. Earl Lewis is such an individual.
Steve Smith, Rotary Club of Morehead City President, said, "Rotary congratulates Earl on his phenomenal attendance record. He is an inspiration to all Rotarians."
President Steve Smith presents a plaque to Earl Lewis, recognizing his 60 years of perfect attendance in the Rotary Club of Morehead City recently with an elbow bump.

As a Rotarian completing services in a community we not only build friendships locally we touch people from around the world. With this said I would like to tell everyone about a lady from South Dakota. Her story coincides with the Balsam Range and the Rotary Club of Morehead City's desire to raise funds for Alzheimers Research. Sharon Nuttall lost her husband Porter Nuttall last year. She decided this benefit hitting close to her heart, she must be part of it. She contacted members of our club to see how we might help make this happen. Without hesitation 3 of our members jumped into action. Sharon was picked up from the airport and did some shopping with one member and took time to tell her story to us at our meeting. Sharon will see Balsam Range in concert tonight. With her story and how we as a group could make this happen makes me proud that as a Rotarian we make a difference in many ways!
