NEWS RELEASE: Health department reports one death due to COVID-19

CARTERET COUNTY, NC – The Carteret County Health Department regrets to inform that the county received the report of a confirmed COVID-19 death of a Carteret County resident. The resident was in their 60s, had underlying health conditions, and died from complications associated with the COVID-19 virus.

“We are saddened to report another death today,” Nina Oliver, Carteret County Health Director said. “We offer our sincere condolences to the family of the lost loved one.”

The latest death brings the COVID-19 death total to 93 in Carteret County. The health department also reported 23 new COVID-19 cases since Wednesday, bringing the total number of cases to 8,626 since the pandemic began.

As of Friday, 3 patients are hospitalized in the county with the virus.

Carteret County Health Department is governed by an eleven-member Board of Health that meets on a monthly basis, usually the second Monday of each month at 6:00 PM at the Health Department. Public comment is welcomed and encouraged. Our Board of Health meeting agendas are posted in the Health Department and on our page. We do ask that anyone wishing to make a public comment to call 252-728-8550 ext. 7742 to be placed on the agenda.

Updates will typically be on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays.
