Lone Star Elementary, MISD
A huge thank you to our Yearbook Coordinator, Veronica Aufill. She worked so incredibly hard all year on the book, especially after Covid added an extra obstacle - which she handled with such grace.
This is a difficult and very involved volunteer position, and Veronica spent countless hours constructing, and then beautifully rearranging pages when we didn't have enough content with school ending early; and she still has more work to do trying to fulfill the waitlist requests!
Another huge thank you to our PTA board and volunteers that came out in this heat to help distribute the books over the last two days, and to our kiddos that helped pull books and pass them out to the cars.
Thank you to all the parents that made it out to pick up your yearbooks as well. Of the 350 yearbooks delivered we only ended up with 17 that weren't picked up - which is amazing considering it is already summer!
I also want to apologize to the parents for any confusion that occurred. I understand your frustration, and we are doing everything we can to work through options to get everyone a yearbook if possible. Some things are beyond our control, but please understand these great volunteers, the PTA, and the school were only responsible for constructing the book and passing them out - the rest was a transaction with Balfour directly. Again I apologize for the disappointment some of you felt, but please be patient and we will see what we can do.
For those on the waitlist, Veronica will be contacting you as books become available - hopefully by early next week!!
Thank you Lone Star Family - you are all incredible!
Last time for yearbook pick up is tonight from 5-7 in the car rider line! We still have quite a few left so please come by to pick up!
Don’t forget to pick up your yearbooks tomorrow!! We will be there tomorrow 10-12 or 5-7 and Tuesday 6/15, 10-12 or 5-7.
There will be no extra yearbooks for purchase there this will only be for purchased books. Make sure to bring a sign with your kids name, grade and your name as pick up on the back.
Also, please be patient when you come to pick up your yearbook as there is likely to be a line. We only ended up with about 2-3 people to cover all of the shifts, so it is likely to be slow going.
If anyone finds some time to come up and help we could use it for sure. Thanks!!
There was a sign up just sent out on Simply Circle for volunteers to help with yearbook distribution. If you have time Monday or Tuesday please sign up to volunteer!
Yearbooks are in!! We will be distributing them next Monday and Tuesday in the car rider line at Lone Star. Please see the flyer for details and pick up information!
If you aren’t sure if you purchased a yearbook please search your emails for an email from “Balfour” that will give you order information.
If you have any questions you can email Veronica Aufill at [email protected]
Yearbooks got delayed a little bit so we will be distributing them June 15th and 16th. I will post information on pick up times and instructions on how to pick up later this week.
Here is the order information for school supplies for next year! The deadline is 6/14/20 so please get your order in asap. They do have late orders processed from 6/17-7/7 but this usually has an additional charge.
Today is the Reverse Goodbye Parade! Please come through the car rider line today between 6-8 to say Goodbye to your teachers and Hello to summer! You are welcome to bring them a card or a little gift to hand through the window but please stay in your car!
We also have a sign up for our Kindergarten and 5th grade graduates to take a picture in front of! The sign is in the bus rider line parking lot in the grass by the trees. You are welcome to park and take a quick picture but remember to maintain social distancing from other families.

Last pick-up tonight from 5-7! Please bring your library and/or teacher’s books!
Parents don’t forget to come by Monday or Tuesday to pick up your kiddos things. I know you probably think they don’t have much but I was there today and every kid had a full bag of stuff to bring home!
Plus the reverse parade is Thursday evening and I know the teachers would love to see all their students!!
**Important upcoming dates**
The teachers will have the kids items collected from their classrooms in bags for easy curbside pick up. Please follow the directions and times assigned.
This is also the time to return any library books your kiddo might still have and any laptops or materials you may have borrowed.
The Reverse Parade will be to say goodbye/happy summer to teachers & staff. If you would like to bring a little something for your teacher this would be a good time to do it!
This was all in Dr. Bartletts newsletter that went out today, including links in case you can't make the days and times provided.

Dear Parents of MISD Students:
I trust this email finds you and your family well and enjoying your last Sunday evening of Spring Break! On behalf of the MISD School Board and our entire Staff, I want to thank you for your continued support as we start our remote learning journey together this week. It will be a new adventure for all of us, so don't stress over it too much! We realize you are not teachers and we simply want to provide you and your student learning options and opportunities for them to continue their education during this strange hiatus. We will continue to perfect this new instructional model over the next few weeks as we learn and grow together. So, please be watching for important information this week from your child's teachers and principal. Also, if there is anything we can do to help you and your family during this pandemic, please do not hesitate to reach out and ask.
With the increased availability of testing for COVID-19, Montgomery ISD officials continue to learn of confirmed cases within our school community, including individuals associated with Lake Creek High School and one MISD transportation department bus route transporting students to/from Keenan Elementary. The Montgomery County Health Department has already contacted individuals who they determined may have been at a higher risk of being exposed to individuals with confirmed cases. Montgomery ISD will continue to cooperate with state and local officials in providing information necessary to contact individuals who may have been exposed to a confirmed case of COVID-19. MISD is relying on the expertise of the Health Department and their epidemiologists in making the determination as to who may have been exposed and is not interfering with the Health Department’s identification and notification process. If you do not receive a call from the Health Department, you or your child are not currently identified by the Health Department as having a high risk of exposure from a known case. As the virus continues its spread nationwide, we encourage you to be vigilant in following the Center for Disease Control (CDC) social distancing and hygiene recommendations. Please visit the Montgomery County Health District, Texas State Department of Health Services, and the CDC websites for information on how to seek treatment for yourself or a loved one who may become ill and when to contact a healthcare provider.
Thank you for being awesome, caring, and compassionate parents! Please continue to stick together, support one another, and most importantly take care of yourself and your family during this unprecedented time in our Nation's history.

If you have a specific question or concern, please reach out.
Parents if you ordered an ad for the yearbook and haven't submitted it please do ASAP! They are due Today!
