We wanted to share with our families and friends that we had our first positive case of COVID-19. A staff member tested positive that worked prior to the start of symptoms. All residents were tested today, and the tests were all negative. The majority of our staff completed testing and were all negative as well. Staff testing will wrap up tomorrow. We want you to know that we are doing everything possible to prevent the spread of COVID-19 within our facility. We are staying in very close communication with state health officials to ensure we are taking all the appropriate steps. Staff and residents will continue to be tested until we have at least two consecutive weeks of all negative tests. Visitation will be suspended except for certain compassionate care situations. We understand that connecting with family members is incredibly important to our residents. We encourage you to connect with your loved ones through phone calls, FaceTime, Duo, or other social media formats. Our dedicated staff will assist you in helping to set this up. This is a difficult time for everyone, and we will continue to provide you with updates as they become available. We wish for a speedy recovery for our staff member that tested positive-our thoughts are with you! If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to call us at (218)563-2715.

VISITATION UPDATE!

Dear Family, Friends and Residents:
Balancing COVID-19 safety and visitation restrictions with the well-being of residents in this community is a priority at McIntosh Senior Living. Utilizing the best guidance available from the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS), the Center for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), and the Minnesota Department of Health (MDH), we will be instituting new visitation options effective October 15th, 2020.
Our indoor visitation options are dependent upon a myriad of factors, including the two-week COVID-19 county positivity rate, COVID-19 cases in the facility within last 14 days and other clinical safety factors. Because of this interdependency some of these visitation options are subject to change. Additionally, to ensure adequate social distancing, the number of visitors is limited at any given time, therefore subject to scheduling availability. Please see our website: mcintoshseniorliving.com for the most current information regarding what options are available for visitation.
If you are a designated essential caregiver, or visiting for compassionate care reasons, such as end of life situations, the current guidelines will apply with no changes. For all other visitors, we are offering a new indoor visitation option! We have created a designated area near the front entrance that provides a space for visiting while ensuring social distancing protocols are followed. We can accommodate 1-2 visitors per resident at a time. Visits will be limited to 30 minutes to allow for other residents to have visitors and time for cleaning the visitation area.
All visitors must schedule visits at least one day in advance. Please check out our website: mcintoshseniorliving.com to access a link to schedule your visit. There is a link for essential caregivers and a link for all other visitors. Please select the appropriate link, which will bring you to our on-line scheduler on Signup Genius. Select the time and date that you wish to visit. If you do not have internet access or if you have any questions, please call us at (218) 563-2715. If you do not schedule your visit at least one day in advance, we will have to turn you away. We are very sorry, but we can only have a limited number of visitors in the building at one time.
**We are prohibited from accommodating indoor visits if we have had a new onset case of COVID-19 in the past 14 days or if we are currently conducting outbreak testing. Further, if the case positivity rate in our county/surrounding counties is high, we have will pause in-person indoor visitations.
There will be additional information provided to you regarding the level of personal protective equipment (PPE) you are expected to wear during your visits. At a minimum, all visitors must pass a symptom screening, must always wear a face mask, practice social distancing and good hand hygiene. Thank you in advance for helping us keep our residents safe by following these protocols.

Family & Friends of MSL,
We just wanted to share some updates with you. First, we continue to make the best of our current situation and look for ways to keep bringing joy to the lives of our residents. If you follow us on Facebook, you may have seen some of our outdoor concerts, golf cart rides, and other activities. It has been a blessing to have the outdoor visits and some limited indoor visits as well. We often see residents enjoying time with family through apps like Facetime and Duo. It is so important to keep making those connections!

We completed facility wide COVID testing on July 31st. We had 86% of staff and 91% of residents participate in testing and all came back negative! New guidance released by CMS will be requiring regular testing of staff according to the county positivity rate. We will inform residents and families in the event there are any positive results. We anticipate that we will soon be receiving our own point of care testing device that will allow for testing right here at MSL! This will be a great tool in rapidly identifying the presence of COVID-19.

You may have heard that the Minnesota Department of Health (MDH) will soon allow increased visitation and activities. We have received guidance from MDH that outlines when we can move from Level 1 (this is where we are right now) to Level 2 visitation and activities. Level 2 visitation would allow more visitors to enter the facility, following guidelines, such as scheduling visits, screening upon entry for fever and symptoms, wearing facemasks and maintaining social distancing. At this time, we do not believe we meet all requirements to move to Level 2 visitation. One factor we need to consider is the 14-day county positivity rate, which is currently 11.1. MDH considers anything over 10 to be an elevated risk. There have also been several facilities in our area that have recently had positive cases. We will continue to monitor the county positivity rate and all other factors required to move to Level 2 and keep you informed.

We are looking at different ways to keep families informed of changes. One easy way to check our visitation level will be by going onto our website: mcintoshseniorliving.com where you will see a banner at the top of the home page. The banner will be colored red for Level 1 visitation and green for Level 2 visitation. We are starting to collect email addresses for family and friends that will allow us to make quick updates directly. Thank you if you have already shared your email address. If you haven’t already, please let us know what your email address is if you are in the habit of using email. Call us at 563-2715 with your email address and also if you have any questions. Thank you so much for all of your patience!
