In 2020, CHFF modified our From the Ground Up (FGU) Program supports to better fit the needs of our makers in recovery and to keep them safe during the COVID-19 pandemic. From March 3rd, 2020- November 19th, 2020, CHFF farm fam donors helped keep folks safe by providing:

- 37,408 meals for FGU Makers and individuals served by CHFF non-profit partners.
- 15 weeks of weekly housing assistance, at $130 a week, for 20 FGU Makers.
- 10 cell phones or cell phone plans to FGU Makers.
- Covered the cost of 21 COVID-19 and Antibody tests, 2 eye exams, and 4 pairs of glasses for FGU Makers.

Without community members' support, folks would not be safe during a time when they are trying to focus on recovery and survive a pandemic. If you would like to be a part of the farm fam and provide safety support, you can give via:

Hello TP family. We have a graduate that is in desperate need of an attorney. They have had parental rights terminated after both parents graduated our 1 year program, have their own home, and fulltime employment. None of us were expecting this outcome. Everyone thought they were in the position to regain custody of their children. Any attorney friends we have that can help them file their appeal please message us!! They only have a very limited time to file this appeal. Thank you and God Bless.

I have a dream that one day this nation will rise up and live out the true meaning of its creed: "We hold these truths to be self-evident, that all men are created equal."

I have a dream that one day on the red hills of Georgia, the sons of former slaves and the sons of former slave owners will be able to sit down together at the table of brotherhood.

I have a dream that one day even the state of Mississippi, a state sweltering with the heat of injustice, sweltering with the heat of oppression, will be transformed into an oasis of freedom and justice.

I have a dream that my four little children will one day live in a nation where they will not be judged by the color of their skin but by the content of their character.

I have a dream today!

I have a dream that one day, down in Alabama, with its vicious racists, with its governor having his lips dripping with the words of "interposition" and "nullification" -- one day right there in Alabama little black boys and black girls will be able to join hands with little white boys and white girls as sisters and brothers.

I have a dream today!

I have a dream that one day every valley shall be exalted, and every hill and mountain shall be made low, the rough places will be made plain, and the crooked places will be made straight; "and the glory of the Lord shall be revealed and all flesh shall see it together."

This is our hope, and this is the faith that I go back to the South with.

With this faith, we will be able to hew out of the mountain of despair a stone of hope. With this faith, we will be able to transform the jangling discords of our nation into a beautiful symphony of brotherhood. With this faith, we will be able to work together, to pray together, to struggle together, to go to jail together, to stand up for freedom together, knowing that we will be free one day.

And this will be the day -- this will be the day when all of God's children will be able to sing with new meaning:

My country 'tis of thee, sweet land of liberty, of thee I sing. Land where my fathers died, land of the Pilgrim's pride, From every mountainside, let freedom ring!

And if America is to be a great nation, this must become true.

And so let freedom ring from the prodigious hilltops of New Hampshire.

Let freedom ring from the mighty mountains of New York.

Let freedom ring from the heightening Alleghenies of Pennsylvania.

Let freedom ring from the snow-capped Rockies of Colorado.

Let freedom ring from the curvaceous slopes of California.

But not only that:

Let freedom ring from Stone Mountain of Georgia.

Let freedom ring from Lookout Mountain of Tennessee.

Let freedom ring from every hill and molehill of Mississippi.

From every mountainside, let freedom ring.

And when this happens, and when we allow freedom ring, when we let it ring from every village and every hamlet, from every state and every city, we will be able to speed up that day when all of God's children, black men and white men, Jews and Gentiles, Protestants and Catholics, will be able to join hands and sing in the words of the old Negro spiritual:

Free at last! Free at last!

Thank God Almighty, we are free at last!

-Martin Luther King JR.

In March, Trinity's board made the difficult decision to suspend its usual grant cycle for 2020 due to the uncertainty surrounding the Covid-19 pandemic. As a result, they thoughtfully and prayerfully decided to designate those funds to address the urgent needs of our local nonprofit community. On April 17th, the board met and voted to grant over $350,000 to 38 local organizations to help alleviate the burden placed on them during this difficult time. The Trinity board is grateful to be able to join hands with the following organizations to continue to serve our community!!

🧑🏽‍🍳🧑🏿‍🍳Today was the Maker's first taste of large scale meal preparation! 🥬🥒🍅 Makers prepared, and cooked, 200 meals with the instruction and help of our culinary staff, after going through safety and food sanitation training. All of the meals were made from our 100% grass-fed beef and vegetables grown in our gardens. These delicious meals are on their way to our friends at Sleeves4Needs, in Knoxville as a part of our Give A Meal Program. Thank you, Makers, for making a change in the lives of others! Celebrating Six Years of Second Chances!! This week marks the six-year anniversary of True Purpose Ministries and White Oak Construction & Restoration Company's joint fight against the addiction epidemic. True Purpose Ministries is a recovery center that takes a spiritual, holistic approach to healing. White Oak is a custom construction company that recognizes the destruction caused by addiction and the need for integrity within the skilled labor industry. On January 6, 2014, Jeremy Graham, founder of True Purpose, and Gil Heinsohn, President of White Oak, partnered together to construct a shared office space, along with a state-of-the-art recovery facility in Maryville, TN. To celebrate six years of providing second chances, they have highlighted six milestones achieved through this unique partnership: 1. White Oak created an apprentice program that provides top-notch job training for the men enrolled in True Purpose. 2. True Purpose received state licensure for rehabilitation services, including vocational rehabilitation. 3. Together, they formed the Tennessee Op**te Initiative and developed the “Four Levels of Addiction” assessment protocol. 4. With assistance from key contributors in the Blount County community, they built a graduate facility known as “Dane’s House.” 5. They established four more True Purpose recovery programs in Madisonville, Sevierville, Knoxville, and Indiana. 6. They opened a pregnant women’s home with Restoration Place Ministries in Vonore, TN, which has since helped thirteen babies be born drug and alcohol free. As a result of these milestones, countless individuals have been saved, healed, and job trained by the power of Jesus Christ. Pastor Graham and Mr. Heinsohn would like to thank everyone involved for helping them accomplish these goals. Specifically, they thank the local community for helping fight the addiction epidemic and continuing to support second chances.
In honor of our partnership with True Purpose Ministries, we’ve donated a light to memorialize all who have lost their fight to addiction. The proceeds from Blount Memorial Foundation's Holiday Tree of Lights provides support for the healthcare needs of the medically underserved and uninsured in our community. May we always uplift and cherish those around us this holiday season.
