For all of you who own cats AND dogs, be careful to separate the dogs from the cats if you use a topical flea/tick product. If your cats are like ours, they rub all over the dogs (marking their territory, I think). Our vet said that if a cat get something like Advantix on itself, it could be fatal.

The Opossum's Pouch Sanctuary, Rescue and Rehabilitation

Many orphans can be left a few hours to see if mom comes back...NOT OPOSSUMS! If you see a baby like this one in a yard or anywhere, get it quickly in a little box or pet carrier with a blanket and keep warm. Momma opossum can have up to 13 babies. As they grow, they don't all fit in the pouch so they ride on her back. If something startles her and she runs, one can fall off. Momma doesn't know she lost one so please never ever leave one thinking mom will come back...

PSA: DO NOT bleach your pumpkins to make them last longer!! I've seen this tip being shared all over social media this season and it stinks! Please remember pumpkins are food, especially to lots of the wildlife! Deer, squirrels, raccoons, possums, mice, rats, chipmunks, birds, and even bugs. We deliberately stick them outside somewhere where wildlife can access them and we DO NOT want our wildlife eating bleached pumpkins!!! 🐿🥺🖤

Instead, try using vinegar. 1 part vinegar to 10 parts water will work just as well. Thanks! 🎃

Please don't use glue traps

Today is the 1st Day of Fall! 🍁 As temperatures start to get cooler, animals will seek shelter in non ideal locations. We understand that people don’t want mice, snakes, lizards..in their home. However, please NEVER use sticky traps or rodenticides. They are inhumane and the animal suffers a slow and painful death. Instead use live traps, ultrasonic repellers, and unpleasant scents. Just a friendly reminder that we share this planet with our animal friends. #coexistpeacefully

Other humane options but not limited to the following:

*Peppermint Oil
*Steel Wool
*Rodent Repellent sprays sold online
*Irish Spring bars cut up
*Rolling Log Mouse Traps (no water)
*Catch & Release Mouse Traps

"Sad night last night but today is a brighter day. The ewe (female sheep) on the left lambed a stillborn and we were unable to resuscitate it. She cried most of the night longing for her lamb after we removed it.

The ewe on the right lambed twins last week, though they were very small. It seems that today she has given one of her twins to the grieving mother to raise as her own. This is a photo of them together with their new children."

S.I.S Saving Innocent Souls

This is what the other side of de-clawing a cat looks like... You literally cut the tips of their toes off. They will never walk correctly. They will inevitably get arthritis as a result.
It hurts.

They don't understand what happened to them. If you don't like claws: don't own a cat. The vet should try and talk everyone out of it and only does it because otherwise the cat will lose their home...

This is CRUEL and INHUMANE! We at SIS do not support declawing.

Leave the leaves!

"The less well-known larvae of the firefly, called “glow worms,” live in leaf litter and are voracious predators. They eat other insects, mites, earthworms, and even slugs and snails. The lights of the fireflies represent communication mechanisms."

Hi i was wondering if you could help me and my rescues out. I can call u at your convenience. I basically need some mentoring/lots of advice on finding an organization to become part of and finding funds. I currently have a 1-2 yr, very loving little female Pit i pulled 20 mins from euthanasia, and I believe she has heartworm but my Vet isn't open on weekends. If she does, I have no clue where to begin applying for help with her treatment or finding her a foster home that can. My name is Ella my number is 423-331-8992
