To say that we are amazed and overwhelmed by this generosity is an understatement!

The MOMS Club of Warner Robins recently held a yard sale with one goal in mind - raising money to purchase items to donate to families of patients, our teammates and bereavement team within our Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NNICU)! Items donated included clothing, mamaroos, blankets, teethers, snacks and even gift cards for families!

"A lot of us have had babies in the NICU, so its really near and dear to our hearts," said Amanda Cross, VP of Projects with the organization. "When we heard there was a need, we figured, 'hey, why not make it happen?' "

On behalf of our patients and families, thank you for your heartfelt generosity!

'Trust your gut': Central Georgia mom warns parents to pay attention to infants as RSV cases peak

We've seen an unseasonal rise in RSV cases in recent weeks. In a story by 13 WMAZ and Kayla Solomon WMAZ, Dr. Christy Peterson from Beverly Knight Olson Children's Hospital talks about what steps parents can take to help prevent it as well as when your child should see a doctor https://www.13wmaz.com/article/news/local/trust-your-gut-central-georgia-mom-warns-parents-to-pay-attention-to-infants-as-rsv-cases-peak-2/93-9fe2f643-9267-4479-b3df-7a81f8dc2c5b

"We have recently seen a nationwide and local increase in the number of babies presenting with RSV, which is unusual for this time of year. Most babies do well, but a few need supportive care in a clinic or hospital. If the baby is having difficulty breathing, a decrease in wet diapers or loss of appetite, or if the baby is lethargic, parents and guardians should contact either the child’s pediatrician or go to the emergency room.” - Dr. Anu Pavuluri, pediatric hospitalist at Beverly Knight Olson Children’s Hospital, Navicent Health.

Caregivers and those with close contact with children at higher risk for RSV can take steps to prevent RSV such as:

· Frequent handwashing: Wash your hands with soap and water for at least 20 seconds and help young children clean their hands. If soap and water are not available, use an alcohol-based hand sanitizer.
· Keep hands away from your face: Avoid touching your eyes, nose and mouth with unwashed hands.
· Avoid close contact with those who are sick: Avoid kissing and sharing cups or eating utensils with people who have cold-like symptoms.
· Cover your mouth and nose with a tissue or upper shirt sleeve when coughing or sneezing.
· Clean and disinfect frequently touched surfaces and objects such as toys, doorknobs and mobile devices.
· If possible, stay home from work, school and public areas when you’re sick.
