I’ve neglected this woman. I’ve not loved her at full capacity. I’ve fed her lies & told her she wasn’t good enough and have allowed others to tell her she wasn't good enough. I’ve allowed her to be broken. I've allowed others to treat her disrespectfully. I’ve allowed her to run into brick walls & battle for others who won’t even stand for her. I didn’t stop individuals from mistreating her, yet I’ve seen her still get up to be a light to the world & love others despite all she has endured. I have stood paralyzed by fear while she fought battles in her mind, heart and soul!
Forgive me for not going to war for you like you do for others.
This QUEEN is a WARRIOR. She’s not perfect but God calls her WORTHY! She’s UNSTOPPABLE. Gracefully broken but beautifully standing. She is loved. She is life. She is transformation. She is Grace. She is BRAVE! She builds arks before there is any rain. She looks fear in the face and rises in faith! #iAmShe #Sheisme #WeAreWe #ChosenbyGod The Power of a Voice 12 WK Challenge

Dear Superintendent Beautner and all concerned:

It has now been over one year since the Covid-19 pandemic led to the closure of our children’s schools.

Now, the CDC, the California Department of Public Health, and LA County DPH have amended their guidelines for the reopening of schools, stating that “maintaining a minimum of 3 feet between student chairs is strongly recommended.” The wording of this recommendation allows for a full and immediate reopening of ALL LAUSD classrooms to their pre-pandemic capacity.

Three feet of spacing between student chairs has always been the ADA mandated aisle spacing. A return to this pre-pandemic standard will allow for three feet of social distancing and a full reopening of every LAUSD classroom. In situations where a full three feet is not feasible, we can still re-open in compliance with the CDPH and LA DPH, as the three foot spacing is “strongly recommended,” but not required.

As parents of children in LAUSD, we are united in calling on the district administrative staff to fully reopen all LAUSD schools immediately for full time classroom instruction five days per week. We call upon LAUSD to lead the way and set an example for all other districts in the state of California to follow by immediately reopening all LAUSD schools with pre-pandemic instructional minutes reinstated for in-person learning. Many other California school districts have announced plans to fully re-open, and LAUSD must do so as well.

California SB98 states that “a local educational agency shall offer in-person instruction to the greatest extent possible” and “may only offer distance learning as a result of an order or guidance from a state public health officer or a local public health officer” or “for pupils who are medically fragile or would be put at risk by in-person instruction, or who are self-quarantining because of exposure to COVID-19.” Now that public health officers for the state of California and LA County state that three feet of social distancing is the standard for all California schools, full time in-person education must be offered to all LAUSD students.

The California Supreme Court has repeatedly upheld that education is a fundamental interest, and that the opportunity to receive schooling furnished by the state must be available to all on an equal basis. Labor negotiations do not and cannot negate the fundamental right of all California students to an in-person education.

A failure to immediately and fully reopen all LAUSD schools for full time in-person instruction five days per week will expose LAUSD to significant legal liability and unnecessary legal expenses. On March 15, a judge in San Diego issued a temporary restraining order blocking the state from enforcing rules that prevented districts from reopening fully for in-person learning, with a final decision expected April 1. With this legal precedent, lawsuits will continue against school districts that fail to offer full-time in-person learning to all their students.

We, as parents of LAUSD students, call upon the district to create and implement a full-time reopening plan for all LAUSD students effective immediately.

“Our Rally scheduled for Saturday, March 10th at Ted Watkins park @ 11am is scheduled as planned!”

Come out and be heard.

We are still giving backpacks and school supplies to children of the community to ensure a safe return to school. A tentative reopening plan has been announced by UTLA & LAUSD, it’s a step in the right direction but it’s not enough.

WE THE PARENTS, still want and deserve a seat at the table!
