Happy Easter to the Anguilla Initiative community - we hope you are all safe and healthy, and quarantined wherever you call home.

Though we're far away from each other, I'm sure you look forward as we do to reconnecting again, both with each other, and with Anguilla, as soon as we can begin to contain this pandemic.

Enjoy this time with family, this reminder of that which is important - which is not our 'stuff', but our family, our friends, and the experiences which make life so rich.

Really look forward to seeing you all again soon, and meeting you some day, whether on Meads Bay, or Tasty's Restaurant, or at the rock on LIttle Bay, or at Ember Restaurant Anguilla, or at the Arch, or at Sharky's Restaurant Anguilla, or at Zemi Beach House - or wherever you call home in Anguilla.

General Fund | The Anguilla Initiative

We need your help for our Anguillan friends. In coordination with Best Buy stores, we hope to fund as many $50 vouchers as possible for food staples for the many staff that are out of work from the closed hotels and restaurants.

If you would like to help, please make your US tax deductible donation at https://www.anguillainitiative.org/general-fund in multiples of $50 for as many vouchers as you'd like to fund and put "food vouchers" in the comment field.

Anguilla's lone hospital, Princess Alexandra, has 4 ventilators for its 10 isolation units. The Anguilla HealthCare Foundation is raising funds to acquire added ventilators for the other 6 rooms. If you would like your donation to go toward purchasing a ventilator (~$30k), please note that in the comment.

While we recognize there are understandably needs to address at home for all of us, if you have the means, consider donating to help those in need in Anguilla.

Dear Anguillan friends & those who feel like family -

I know many who have had to cancel their trips to Anguilla in the past few days before the flight moratorium via SXM, and obviously more now. We're still scheduled for 4/1-10 though it looks increasingly likely that for everyone's safety on and off island, we may not get there.

Please know that all of us stuck back home, as we try to get this outbreak under control before it impacts AXA, are all thinking about you constantly.

We know businesses on island, and all the employees in turn, will take an economic hit, and we hope that is the only impact on Anguilla.

But assuming we can get this crisis under control, know that we personally, the Hunn's, are committed to returning to Anguilla in 2020, and spending all the money we would have in April on the island.

I expect it's the same for many others who have been forced to cancel.

If you feel the same way, chime in below.

Be Safe Everyone.

As you can see on my Jeep, we've gotten in cool Anguilla Initiative stickers suitable for your car, or anywhere else you put a sticker...

What better way to show your support of Anguilla and the non-profit Anguilla Initiative than this?!?

If you'd like a sticker (not the 'AXA' sticker, one of the other two), all I ask is that you make a donation to the Anguilla Initiative at www.anguillainitiative.org of $25 dollars or more and put a note in the comments field as to which sticker you'd like... Or just DM me and we can coordinate. All donations are tax deductible.

We're up to 200 of you that have liked our Anguilla Initiative page! Thanks very much for your support.

We're still early in building the Anguilla Initiative Army of supporters to help fund our projects for Anguillans, but i greatly appreciate you jumping on the wagon early and believing in us!

As we complete our January kickoff of the Anguilla Initiative, time to highlight the 3rd of our 3 projects in support of Anguillan nonprofits in 2020 - the Anguilla National Trust. Our project focuses on rebuilding a viewing platform on East End Pond destroyed by Hurricane Irma. East End Pond is the only nationally protected wetlands in Anguilla and receives many visitors for school education programs and by tourists, birders, and nature photographers as well.

Please consider supporting the cause - we're building an army of Anguilla supporters - one repeat visitor at a time!

Today we're highlighting the 2nd of our 3 chosen charity projects for 2020 - funding a large (and i mean large) tent to provide covered space for youth and community events. JC Recreational Centre lost their roof in Hurricane Irma - this tent makes their outdoor space useable again for afterschool youth, elderly, and community programs, and can be broken down before the next storm hits.

The Anguilla Initiative is thrilled to highlight the 1st of our 3 sponsored projects for 2020, helping the Arijah Children‘s foundation to fund a special education preschool teacher for the 2020 school year.

With your donation you are enabling a preschool aged child with special needs to attend a local preschool for an entire school year, and ensuring a rich learning and socialization experience for both the special needs students and the typically developing children at the school.

I need your help.

Today we’re launching a new nonprofit - The Anguilla Initiative (or “TAI”). We created TAI because we have fallen in love with Anguilla and its incredible people over the several years we’ve been visiting, and we want to give something back for all the memories we’ve received.

Our vision is to build an army of fellow Anguilla lovers whose hearts never really leave the island, even though you may only visit once a year, and use that army to do good for the Anguillan people. You can see our more detailed mission on our website.

Our approach is simple: Identify specific, tangible projects each year with Anguillan nonprofits that we can fund to make an impact. Donate to whichever project most interests you.

We’re also creating an ‘always on’ Hurricane Relief Fund, which will gather donations towards relief for whatever future weather event may come. We saw with Irma the importance of getting money deployed fast – we will be even more ready next time.

Our hope is that by making it super easy to donate to worthy Anguillan projects through a US-based 501(c)(3) organization, we can make a big difference in the lives of Anguillans, one project at a time. All donations to TAI are fully tax deductible.

Expect to hear more about 2020’s sponsored projects in future posts, or hit the website to learn more and donate now.

A long year of blood, sweat, and beers has gone into building TAI. But we can’t be successful without you. In order to fund our first 3 projects, we’ll need to raise $50,000. We’ve raised nearly $10,000 pre-launch, now we need your help.

No donation is too small to be significant.

A donation of $500 or more will welcome you to the Founders Club, making you the envy of all your friends. Please DM or email me at [email protected] and I’m happy to share more details about Founders Club. If you’re in the DC area, I’ll even meet and buy you a Carib.

If you’ve stuck with me this far, I have one last ask:
- Please go to our Anguilla Initiative page , hit ‘like’, and join our group.
- Please go to https:www.anguillainitiative.org, see what we’re all about, and consider making a donation!

Put your money where your heart is. Together, we can make an incredible, sustained difference, one project at a time.

A special place to be sure...

It’s just not possible to find a bad seat in the house at Blanchard’s. This world-famous restaurant is so much more than a beach shack: it’s a labour of trust, love and dedication. Owners Bob and Melinda Blanchard dropped their life in New England to start anew with a passion project in Anguilla, and we thank our lucky stars every day that they did.
