Church of the Holy Spirit

Church of the Holy Spirit Church of the Holy Spirit is a fellowship of friends who love Jesus. Come experience God's love and power. We love Jesus. We love our neighbors. We make disciples that make disciples. We plant churches that plant churches. Founded 2000

We welcome you, your family, and absolutely everyone! We enjoy worshiping the Lord together on Sundays at 9:00 AM and 11:00AM. Adult Sunday school is at 10:15; youth Sunday school is concurrent with the two services. We also have a Healing Service on the first Saturday of every month beginning at 5 PM. We believe strongly in the ministry of small groups for mutual care, fellowship, prayer and discipleship in God's Word. As we love one another, we grow into the character of the Lord Jesus. We'll help you to discover your spiritual gifts and passion, and serve using them. As we love God and our neighbors, and make disciples who make disciples, God's Kingdom is breaking in! We are a "Three Streams, One River" church: Evangelical, Charismatic, and Sacramental.

Mission: We love Jesus. We love our neighbors. We make disciples that make disciples. We plant churches that plant churches.

Please pray for us as we seek and select a new Assistant Rector. This Sunday, 2/2. Robbie Pruitt will be with us and preaching. Next Sunday, 2/9, Jedd Trenum will be with us and preaching. Praise God for great candidates!

Dr. Tony Evans recently preached at the funeral for his wife Lois.

He concluded, “If you are a Christian, the only hell you’ll ever have is the hell you get here,” he said. “But if you aren’t a Christian, the only heaven you’ll ever have is the little bit of heaven you get here.”

If you’re unsure of your eternal destiny, said Dr. Evans, “get that cleared up” and follow Jesus, who has taken away the sting of death.

Richard Neuhaus said, “We have not the right to despair because
despair is a sin, and finally we have not the reason to despair quite
simply because Christ is risen.”

Did you know that 43% of women having abortions in 2015* were sitting in churches within 30 days prior to their abortions? Did you know that nine states have now legalized assisted suicide and, in some of those states, you don’t have to have a terminal illness to receive help in killing yourself?

On top of the increasing cultural divide in our society, our vulnerable unborn and elderly brothers and sisters are being increasingly seen as expendable, even to those who believe in God.

Because these issues are degrading the sanctity of life, life that God says is good and created for a purpose, Anglicans for Life (AFL) is working overtime to make sure there are people in our churches who are equipped to provide ministry, pastoral care, and education on life topics. Specifically, AFL hosts an annual Summit in Washington DC, which coincides with the March for Life. The Diocese will also co-host the YSummit on January 23 and the prayer service before the Walk on January 24.

This Sunday (December 1) after second service is the Advent Make & Take and Pot Trust! For those who don't know what this means (we were all new at some time) We will be making advent wreathes for our homes after second service with fresh greenery and embellishments, lighting a new candle upon the wreath every week. (Candles included with wreath) These are a wonderful way to celebrate the Advent season!

Pastor Dean will be teaching about "How to lead your family in Advent devotionals." in between the services. If you come to first service please stay late. If you come to second, please come early to learn all about leading your family in Advent devotionals! We will be giving out free devotionals and Advent calendars this Sunday.

Please don't forget to bring a main dish for the Pot Trust after second service! We will have tables set up in the Nave so we can all gather together in community, sharing a wonderful meal!

Just as a reminder the church office will be closed Thursday and Friday for Thanksgiving.

Blessings and Peace,

What do you think about this? (I think he's right)
I love God, and he sent his only begotten son Jesus Christ to die on the cross for all are sins.
I am a child of god and I believe in god with all my heart and soul. And I know we have a loveing and forgiveing God.
Read how some Biblically faithful Anglicans in Canada responded to changes in their Province (national denomination), very similar to our history here. "Apart from the gospel, a pastor is nothing but an underqualified social worker. The gospel is all we have." I would add - all we have is the gospel and the Holy Spirit, who empowers us and leads us into all truth. Yes, it was worth it. Your thoughts?
Good commentary on a popular writer: "Evans everywhere misuses the term “literalism,” applying it disparagingly to those who believe the Bible is understandable and consistent with itself. Because she does not believe that God is able to speak clearly, the text becomes for her a useful “cacophony of voices.”9 Without a substitutionary atonement, without a respectful and nuanced reading of the Old Testament law that takes Christ as its fulfillment and culmination, without the dual natures of Christ, and without the distinction between teaching and narrative, the Bible is fragmented and unintelligible. And yet, for centuries Christians have known that God speaks coherently in every age and in every place. God is a poet, a teacher, a master of metaphor, a narrator so devoted to a perfect arch that He encompasses the totality of human history within His divine purposes. Indeed, God so relies on the complexities and subtleties of human speech as to adopt for Himself the name “The Word.” When God says, “Do not lie,” everybody understands what He means. When Jesus stands sorrowing over the city of Jerusalem, grieving that He would have gathered her as a hen gathers her chicks (Matt. 23:37), even a small child understands that He is not a chicken, but that He deeply desires not the death of sinners but that they should turn to Him and live." Im asking anyone who wants to help me publish my book. I have found an Editor we start working on my book after Easter. She charges $35 an hour and in increments of 10 hours. Im looking into fundraising resources but need help in the time being. I met her from a friend of a friend feeling it is God ordained I have more hope then ever accomplishing a goal for God. I hope you can be a part of something that can change many lives.
I was visiting my parents in Leesburg. What a wonderful service and congregation! Music was awesome, message was great and it was clear this congregation cares about reaching the people for Christ. The Childcare is superb! I think my two toddlers never been happier - they didn't want to leave ;) When I'll be in Leesburg again I will go back!!!!!
