Fall Newsletter

To Jeff, the most important thing you can do for your neighbors is show you care. And that’s exactly what he does every Tuesday and Thursday. When we started a drive-through meal program, Jeff was among the first to volunteer to prepare and serve hot meals to hungry neighbors in need. After finishing his job as a hazmat truck driver, Jeff heads right to the Corps for meal deliveries, never missing a shift. Jeff finds inspiration to serve from his mother’s words, “It’s not about how much you know, it’s about how much you care.” ❤️

🙌 You guys do really amazing work & we are so thankful & lucky to have you in our backyard! Looking forward to a happy & prosperous 2019 in Loudoun County, together! Happy Holidays from our family to yours!🙌
Just wanted to share with you that today, as I have done many times, I went to the Salvation Army in Ashburn with some items to donate. Two of those items were Furniture (tables), and I was told by their representative, "We don't take furniture at this location, but they do take it at the Leesburg location". So, I drove to the Leesburg location, only to be told by two gentlemen, "We can't take that table, because it is a TV stand". This is absolutely ridiculous, and as I told one of them, "This is nitpicking". This also is the equivalent of saying, 'We take clothes, but not athletic shoes', or other similar example. Very disappointing, as the table/TV stand was in great condition, with only one or two minor scratches. Then, as I am waiting to get my receipt, and I literally see items that are in very poor condition (i.e., dirty, considerably worn out), to include an old Christmas Wreath, being taken. I commented to the second gentlemen I spoke with that I would appreciate not being told contradicting things by Salvation Army staff, and he stated, "They (e.g., Ashburn staff), don't know what we can or cannot accept here", and I stated, "Well, then they shouldn't be providing people with incorrect instructions, if they are not sure", and he agreed with me. My point in sharing this is to initiate leadership guidance that your staff be correct and consistent with their instructions; therefore preventing those who donate from wasting their efforts, not to mention de-incentivizing donations et al. Very disappointing, and it will be a long time before I will go through that effort to donate again.
Wednesday and Friday November 21 & 23 2018 everything in the store except for Last Chance items is 50% off!
Where do you have the Angel Trees located and are they out yet?
On May 24, 2018, it was announced that Commissioner Peddle was elected the 21st General of The Salvation Army. Commissioner Brian Peddle, now General Elect of the Salvation Army as of May 24, 2018 was serving as the 26th Chief of the Staff of The Salvation Army based in Great Britain. He has been serving under the appointment of General Andre Cox, which began on 1 November 2015. Commissioner Peddle is the second Chief of the Staff to have born in Canada; General Bramwell Tillsley was the first.[1] The Chief of the Staff is appointed by the General to be second-in-command of the international Salvation Army. Commissioner Peddle and his wife Commissioner Rosalie Peddle were commissioned in the mid-1970s as Salvation Army officers.[1][2] Since then, Commissioner Peddle has held several appointments, including service as the divisional leader in New Zealand and as chief secretary women's ministries in the UK. He led their home territory (Canada and Bermuda)for a little over three years until his present appointment as Chief of the Staff.
