LVC would love to give a HUGE thank you to Dulles South Food Pantry and Young Men’s Service League of South Riding/Dulles South for all of the hard work they’ve provided to one of our Care Receivers this weekend.

We gathered together on Saturday and formed a fantastic group of over 15 volunteers and we worked hard to sort, move, and organize tools, building materials and more. We were also able to remove over 40 bags of trash and toxic waste from the property. We even rehomed a couple of baby garter snakes! Most importantly, we were able to work together as a compassionate team to truly help a neighbor in need. The result of this team effort was a yard that was safe, beautiful and organized and a Care Receiver who was beyond thrilled with the opportunity to interact with a great group of people and to have use of the yard again.

If you would like to help make a positive impact as a volunteer or know someone who needs help like this, please call our office or send us an email!

These past few months, we have faced some trying times and we have all endured a lot. In that time, we have been blown away by the courage and the selflessness shown by our community and our volunteers. We had volunteers give us gift cards for Care Receivers, we had community members and volunteers make masks for our staff and fellow volunteers, we’ve gotten donations, we had an increase of people applying to volunteer and picking up additional assignments and as the weather has finally started to turn, we have had volunteers work together to help Care Receivers who needed some extra help. Recently, three volunteers in particular worked together for hours to clean up 2 acres of land in order to help a couple of our Care Receivers tackle yard work that had become so daunting, our Care Receivers had resigned to the fact that it would probably never get done.

Not only did these three volunteers work together to clear poison ivy, thorny brush, dead trees and more, they also worked together to save some baby birds and they took the time to include the Care Receivers in the clean up. They treated them like people, showed them kindness and gave them some much needed inspiration to tackle other projects that had begun to feel insurmountable. In short, they gave our Care Receivers a hand and some much needed hope. We are proud to continue to provide services to some of the most vulnerable citizens of our community and even prouder to work with heroes like Steve Proulx, Darrell Hill and Joe DeSantis. LVC has some truly amazing volunteers and we value each and every one of them. If you are interested in volunteering with us, please contact our office:703-779-8617; [email protected]

Friends - we have started a "Care Receivers' Fund" here at Loudoun Volunteer Caregivers, to help some of our clients who cannot afford to pay a bill, be it 3 months of prescription co-pays at a time, or their electric bill, or new shoes, or veterinary services for their best friend. Some of our care receivers who were able to work part time now cannot work even those few hours because of the pandemic.

If you are looking for a way to help out, please consider donating to LVC's Care Receiver Fund. This is DIRECT financial support (as opposed to the services we provide). You can make a donation here - Thank you for being a blessing to those we serve!

Looking for ways to help our elderly or other vulnerable groups during this time? Please consider donating gift cards from Wal-Mart, Target, Safeway, Food Lion, Giant, Harris Teeter, Wegman’s, Rite Aid or CVS to LVC. These will be vital in allowing us to get items to our Care Receivers who cannot get out to shop for themselves. You can just drop them in our mailbox out front or leave them with a staff member at the door.

As always, if you’re looking to volunteer to deliver food to or shop for Care Receivers, please send an email to: [email protected] or call the office at 703-779-8617.

Thank you!

Our Story

Loudoun Volunteer Caregivers is a non profit located in Loudoun County, Virginia. We are committed to making a difference in the lives of seniors and chronically ill adults. We utilize volunteers and our services are free to the user.

Our three programs include assisted medical and non-medical transportation, supportive services that ensure our care receivers are able to get their groceries, prescriptions and dentures, and our money management program. By providing these services, our care receivers can remain in their own homes longer, happier and healthier. They can get to their medical appointments, get food, receive help with home maintenance, remain connected to the community, and know that they are not forgotten about. Isolation and loneliness are major factors in the decline of health in older and disabled adults; we work to reduce these problems.

Our Student Caregiver Program ages 11-18, provides opportunities for youths in middle and high school to provide supportive services assistance and quality of life events to some of the county's most vulnerable citizens.

Is there a group in Loudoun County that is doing a sort of pen-pal connection between seniors and students? I have a daughter that has expressed interest. (I feel passionate about seniors, so would not leave it to her to stay in touch, if she lost interest.)
I would like to express my appreciation for the friendly and reliable transportation to and from the hospital for my surgery. Kudos to this wonderful organization!
Loudoun Volunteer Caregivers keep hope alive!
